Summer is here, and one of the best things you can do for your air conditioner is clean the coils. To help your system perform its best during the demanding summer, it would be a good idea to flush your condenser coils with plain water from your hose at least once a month.

Good day Everyone,
I wanted to send out a short post about your indoor unit's fan. Everyone knows the importance of keeping your evaporator coil clean, but the fan is no different. Not only can bacteria, dust, and mold grow on the fan housing, but your air conditioning unit efficiency can be severely hampered. According to Penn State, dirty fan blades and housing can result in a reduction in operating efficiency up to 30 to 50%. This reduced air flow could lead to pockets of stagnant air, reduced cooling or heating capacity, higher energy costs, and higher repair bills. Air cooled fan motors with less air flowing across them could overheat. This could lead to a failure of your fan motor.
While the information I present tends to illustrate some worst case scenarios, even less severe scenarios can add up over time. I like to post these tidbits for educational purposes. Knowledge is power.
If your unit is not performing as well as it should or you would like to schedule a preventative maintenance call, please give us a call at AM Refrigeration 337-274-5387.
Thank you
