Celebrating Safety Week with a Cinco de Mayo Twist: Tacos, Teamwork, a Food Truck and a Culture of Care.

On Tuesday, May 5, Louisiana Bridge Builders promoted “Safety Week” with a festive upgrade as employees came together to celebrate alongside Cinco de Mayo—blending an important message with great food, energy, and co-workers. The result? A reminder that reinforced a core priority: keeping everyone safe, every day.

A big thank you to EquipmentShare for providing today’s meal. Your support and partnership helped bring the team together and made the celebration even more special.

Safety Week is more than a calendar event—it’s a reminder that safety isn’t a checklist, it’s a mindset. From the I-10 Calcasieu bridge job site to our offices, employees paused to reflect on best practices, share lessons learned, and recommit to looking out for one another. And what better way to bring people together than over tacos?

Louisiana Bridge Builders is hiring a Field Engineer Intern to work on the Calcasieu River Bridge Project. This is a 10-week, hands-on internship where you’ll be out in the field, working alongside engineers and construction teams.

If you’re a Civil Engineering or Construction Management junior/senior, this is a great chance to get real experience on a major project.
📍Lake Charles, LA

This year’s theme, “Level Up. Build Strong.”, highlighted the incredible women helping lead and build this transformative infrastructure project. Women now represent 34% of our workforce, more than double the national industry average, with many serving in leadership roles.

Through community engagement, workforce development events, and professional growth opportunities, the week recognized the impact women continue to make across our project and the construction industry.

We appreciate everyone who helped make this week a success and look forward to continuing this celebration in the years ahead.

Throughout the week, our team has come together to recognize the contributions of women across the project and hosted an after hours social where an important conversation was highlighted about well-being and mental health in a high-performance industry.

A big thank you to Carson, APRN, PMHNP, owner and CEO of Lake Area Psychiatry, for joining our team and sharing her expertise on mental health and women’s behavioral health.

We also want to recognize the many women across our project who helped organize this event and who continue to lead by example every day ... Strong teams build strong infrastructure.
