Reflecting on my journey in the HVAC industry, I've witnessed significant transformations since the mid-90s. The transition from R-22 to R-410A, and now to R-32 and R-454B, has underscored the importance of adaptability. When R-410A emerged, its higher pressures and stricter installation requirements exposed industry shortcomings, resulting in system failures and voided warranties due to unqualified contractors. As we move forward to 2024, R-32 and R-454B's mildly flammable nature necessitates enhanced safety measures and codes. Amidst these changes, one constant remains: proper installation and experience are paramount. Cutting corners ultimately incurs greater costs.
