Strong leadership is not about making every decision. As Mid-State CEO Clay Savoy puts it, it is about developing people who are capable, confident, and ready to take ownership of what comes next.

At Mid-State, we are working hard to build strong leaders at every level by giving our people opportunities to grow, the tools to succeed, and the accountability to own the outcome. Empower the people. Own the process. Raise the standard. That’s how we’re building Mid-State.

When a critical pump goes down, the first question is usually, “How fast can we get it repaired?”

That makes sense, but repair time is only part of the outage. The equipment still has to be removed, transported, disassembled, inspected, diagnosed, repaired, tested, returned, reinstalled, aligned, and started back up. Somewhere along the way, people also have to coordinate the equipment, schedules, vendors, approvals, and information needed to keep the job moving.

A repair shop might turn a pump around quickly, and you can still lose valuable time getting it back into operation.

That’s why we think the better question is: How quickly can we safely get this equipment running again?

Reducing repair time matters. Reducing the total time to operation matters more.

Strong communities are built by people who step up and take care of one another. That is why Mid-State is proud to support the YWCA Summer Kids Food Program in Van Wert County through our quarterly charitable giving.

Throughout the school year, many children rely on their schools for breakfast and lunch. When summer arrives and school is no longer in session, families can face a gap in that much-needed support. The YWCA Summer Kids Food Program helps fill that gap by providing free breakfast and lunch to local children throughout June and July.

This year, 150 kids ages 5 to 12 were registered to participate. Along with healthy meals, children enjoy age-appropriate activities, visits from educational groups, and field trips that keep them learning, growing, and connected throughout the summer.

We are grateful for the work this organization does to support local families and give children in Van Wert County a safe, welcoming place to spend their summer.

How many contractors are involved in your next electrical project? Electrical. Mechanical. Fabrication. Rigging. Instrumentation. Now ask yourself: Who's actually managing the project?

The more contractors involved...the more communication gaps. The more scheduling conflicts. The more finger-pointing. One turnkey partner means: One schedule. One point of contact. One accountable team. Less management. More certainty.

Schedule a conversation about turnkey industrial electrical projects.

Industry is the backbone of everything around us.
The plants. The equipment. The products. The jobs. The communities.

And behind all of it are people who know how to
build, fix, maintain, and get the job done.

Before most alarm clocks go off, they’re already moving. They’re building. They’re repairing. They’re solving problems. They’re doing the hard work most people will never see, so the rest of the world can keep moving.

That kind of work deserves to be done by people who take pride in how they do it and how they treat others along the way.

We don’t want to be known simply for what we build. We want people to see our trucks pull through the gate and think, “Those are good people. Those people care. Those people build things the right way.”At Mid-State, we believe there’s a better way to work.

Better culture. Better partnerships. More accountability. Safer work. Higher standards. Not because it sounds good, but because our industry needs it.

We want to help build an industrial culture where people take pride in their work, companies trust their partners, and everyone keeps raising the standard.

Help us give a big shoutout to Julian Villalba, one of our latest Safety Award recipients!

Julian was returning to work after a break when he noticed a small fire in the area. He quickly alerted the people around him, grabbed a nearby fire extinguisher, and took care of the situation before it could turn into something much bigger. That’s what looking out for each other is all about.

At Mid-State, we want every person on our team to go home safe at the end of the day. That takes people who stay alert, speak up, and take action when it matters.

Great work, Julian. We’re proud to have you on the Mid-State team!

This month’s Employee Spotlight is extra special. We’re proud to recognize Buster Davis as he celebrates an incredible 40 years with Mid-State!

Buster serves as a General Foreman in Facility Maintenance, leading a six-person team responsible for maintaining and caring for our facilities. Over four decades, he’s built a reputation as a hardworking, dependable team member who isn’t afraid to tackle whatever the job calls for.

One thing that has kept Buster going all these years is that no two days are quite the same. “I never do the same job. There’s always something new to learn, always something different to do. I’ve always been a learning and working guy.”

That willingness to learn, work hard, and take on new challenges is a big part of what makes Buster such a great example of Mid-State’s values.

And after 40 years, Buster has some memorable advice for anyone thinking about joining the Mid-State team: “Run! Haul ass!” 😄

All jokes aside, his real message is one he has demonstrated throughout his career: “Be ready to work. You can make a career if you’re willing to work for it.” Buster certainly has.

Congratulations, Buster, on 40 years of hard work, dedication, and commitment to Mid-State. We’re grateful for everything you’ve contributed over the years and proud to shine this month’s Employee Spotlight on you!

Another great project in the books! 👏

Our team recently joined E.R. Jahna Industries to celebrate the grand opening of the Van Fleet Mine. That plant in the background? Mid-State is proud to have completed the civil, electrical, and mechanical work that helped bring it to life.

Hank Kirkland, Mike Zealley, Kevin Spivey, Mike Pawlak, Lance Gunter, and BJ Evans were there to represent Mid-State and celebrate the occasion.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this project a reality! We’re proud to see what our teams can accomplish together.
