Meet our expanded Wetlands Team! One of the many benefits of joining forces with Confluence Consulting is our expanded capabilities and services. Our wetland team specializes in restoring riparian and wetland systems throughout the western U.S. These ecosystems represent less than 2% of the total landscape and yet provide important habitat for over 70% of the species found here. This, and their deep wetland monitoring experience, translates into efficiencies in wetland banking and related services, such as local, state, and federal permitting for those projects that can’t avoid impacts entirely.

They’ve been working seamlessly beside our Biological Resources team which already supports clients with wetland delineations, permitting, mitigation planning, and broader ecological evaluations across the western United States. Together, these teams expand our ability to deliver integrated biological and regulatory solutions for projects that interact with wetlands, streams, and other sensitive resources.

Another one of Pinyon’s Annual Chili Cook-Offs is in the books! This year we had 6 contestants. Taste testers brought a donation to participate, and the donations went to the winning contestant’s charity of choice. This year, our crowned winner was Rachel Hernandez! She chose to donate all the proceeds to Foothills Animal Shelter. Congratulations, Rachel!

The Big 3-Oh! 3️⃣0️⃣

In December, Pinyon got to celebrate a huge milestone--Shannon Lucio just hit 30 years working at Pinyon! As the current longest tenured employee, Shannon is the heart of Pinyon. Throughout her time at PinyonPinyon, she has held a variety of roles and helped shape Pinyon into what it is today. Her contributions have been invaluable. To celebrate, we surprised her with a conference room-turned-speakeasy and filled it with all her favorite things!

Shannon, we are so grateful for everything you do. You truly embody our core values. We are so lucky to have you.

Happy Belated Halloween from the creative employee owners at Pinyon! People had so much fun with our costume contest last year, we knew we had to do it again. Each group had their own theme and here is how it went down:

-Biological Resources: “Threatened and Endangered Species”
-Air Quality and Noise: “Bobs Burger’s”
-Strategic Implementation: “Rockstars”
-Site Characterization and Remediation: “Puns”
-Financial Services and Employee Services: “Shrek”
We had one solo entry which was Dixon as a Luaaunchable.

And the winners were Financial and Employee Services with Shrek! Thanks to all our team members for keep it fun!

Earlier this month we had our annual Pinyon Summer Picnic! It’s a great time for all our staff to get together and share excitement, energy, and pride about Pinyon’s future. We all got to enjoy delicious food, fun games, quality team bonding, and even a big bouncy castle! We had a blast and can’t wait for the next one!

Pinyon Environmental recently marked a significant milestone in company history as Founder Lauren Evans, PE concluded her long-planned transition out of company ownership. With special thanks to David Cohen at Matheson Financial for his assistance in designing and implementing the plan, this transaction represented the final step of a thoughtful journey to keep the company independent and internally held. From the beginning, Lauren’s goal was to build a company rooted in purpose, integrity, and people—one that would grow through shared accountability. “I am so grateful to the next generation of leaders at Pinyon for their dedication to the company, and their faith in me, that enabled this to happen,” said Lauren. “Internal ownership transitions are becoming less common in our industry, and I was truly fortunate to have found this exceptional group.”

Lauren’s commitment to environmental excellence and employee-driven leadership has shaped Pinyon’s culture and her legacy continues through the team she empowered. We thank Lauren for her unwavering belief in the people of Pinyon and the lasting impact she leaves on the firm, the community, and our industry as she continues to enjoy life after Pinyon.

Back in May, a few staff members competed in the Colfax Marathon Relay. One of our two teams that competed finished in 2nd place in the Energy, Environmental and Geology Industry category. Along with the prize money they got to donate to Runners for Public Lands, the team also got this awesome trophy and the coasters! The team embodied our core value of by working together so well in the race!
