• What’s a memorable project or job you’ve worked on here that you’re proud of, and why?

Being tasked with updating oil storages and def in equipment. A feeling of accomplishment

• How has working in the underground utility industry shaped your perspective or taught you something unexpected?

The ability of men in the early 1900s to lay clay tile sewer systems and make everything work properly in a trench barely big enough for a man, all without modern equipment

• What’s a skill you’ve picked up or improved since joining our team that you find most valuable?

Keeping up with the coordination of the upkeep on equipment and learning all the laws of hauling heavy equipment.

• Outside of work, what’s a hobby or activity you enjoy that might surprise your coworkers?

Picking around on my guitar and singing

• Looking back on your time here, what’s one moment or achievement that stands out as a highlight?

Taking the Jetter to Orlando Oklahoma with Michael Reaves to Jet a line and going through Pawhuska directly after reading the book, Killers of the Flower Moon.

Bennett Inc, located in Lamar, Missouri, is seeking an ambitious, self-motivated individual to fulfill the duties of Construction Project Manager.

Summary:

This position provides proactive leadership on assigned construction projects, from the bidding phase, through the construction process, to completion and close-out. The project manager will be accountable for project quality, cost control, and schedule adherence along with working as a team with Project Foreman and Engineers. The individual will follow company policies and procedures, uphold ethical standards and values with an emphasis on integrity and service. Salary will be based on experience and competitive with regional industry standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop project management plan – this includes safety plan, quality control and cost analysis.
Plan and implement procurement of materials and services for each project.
Work with project staff to ensure safe completion of projects with a goal of zero jobsite incidents.
Lead and coordinate weekly/monthly progress meetings with owner, consultants and subcontractors.
Oversee all financial aspects of projects – from set up, to billings and final closeout.
Maintain a positive relationship with engineers, suppliers and subcontractors.
Anticipate project construction flow to proactively plan future projects.

Physical Demands:

Overnight travel and remote work as projects and company responsibilities require.
Frequently lift 20-25 pounds.
Bend, squat, climbing stairs or ladders on occasion.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
Three years (preferred) demonstrated experience in construction project management. Some experience in civil/utility construction preferred.
Solid employment history.
Strong leadership and planning skills.
The ability to schedule, estimate and value engineer.
Deadline and detail-oriented.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, and plan reading.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Work with crew to ensure that all construction operations are completed in accordance with customer and industry specifications.
Ensure highest level of safety and quality control requirements are upheld.
Responsible as the crew leader for proper, accurate and timely submission of daily production reports.
Must be able to effectively and efficiently operate equipment including excavators, backhoe, skid steer, etc.
Must be able to identify, anticipate, and analyze potential problems and solutions.

Physical Demands:

Overnight travel as projects and company responsibilities require.
Frequently lift 20-25 pounds.
Bend, squat, climbing stairs or ladders on occasion.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in utility construction.
Two years’ experience in construction supervision.
Effective under pressure and at productive pace.

Strong leadership and planning skills.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of construction methods, scheduling, and plan reading.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Commercial driver’s license.
