Marine Water Transfer Pumps

Saltwater finds every weak point in a pump.

Marine work runs pumps hard. Dewatering flooded compartments, bilge and recirculation tanks, deck and net wash down. Salt, motion, and constant duty decide how long the equipment lasts, and material choice decides most of that.
Pacer molds pump housings from thermoplastics rather than casting them from iron. We have built self-priming centrifugal pumps that way in Lancaster, Pennsylvania since 1974.

Worth reading before you specify anything. Under 46 CFR 182.520, each fixed power bilge pump on a covered vessel must be self-priming, must connect permanently to the bilge manifold, and must be able to pump from every watertight compartment. The full text sits on the eCFR site. Check the rule against your vessel class, and confirm that any pump you are considering meets it.

Hurricane Season Preparedness

The Atlantic hurricane season peaks on September 10.

That is NOAA's climatological peak, with most activity falling between mid-August and mid-October. The season itself runs through November 30.

If your storm plan involves moving water off a property, settle the details before the sky turns:

-Where the water collects, and how far it sits below where a pump would stand

-How far you need to move it, and where it goes

-What power you have if the grid drops: gas, electric, or tractor hydraulics

-Whether the hose, fittings, and suction strainer are on the shelf and in one piece

A self-priming centrifugal pump sits above the water line and pulls its own prime, which matters when there is nowhere dry to set a pump down.

Peak season is August through October.

The pump you need in September is the one you bought in August. We learned that from Katrina and Sandy, when Pacer pumps pulled millions of gallons out of flooded basements — and from every call that came in three days too late.

Four things. Do them this week.
Run the pump. Prime it, load it, confirm the seals hold. Do not discover a problem at 2 a.m. in six inches of water.

Measure your hose. Discharge distance matters as much as intake. Water has to end up somewhere useful.

Stock fuel and a rebuild kit. Parts do not ship during a regional emergency.

Know how your power fails. Gas, electric, and hydraulic drives each quit differently when the grid goes down.

Thermoplastic does not corrode sitting idle. Store it now, use it later.

👋 Meet Kaitlin Barshinger, one of the newest faces on our Customer Service team!

As a Customer Service Rep, Kaitlin gets to see the real-world impact of what we do every day. When we asked what she likes best about her new role, she said it's knowing she's helping farmers, fishermen, and communities keep their daily operations running smoothly with our pumps. We couldn't have said it better.
Kaitlin got her start working at a local deli counter, and these days she's also a brand-new mom to a 6-month-old son 👶 — so life is full! When she finds free time, you'll catch her hiking, making candles, or heading to the park with her son and husband now that the weather's warm.
