What has the Chelyabinsk super bolide taught us about the dangers of meteorites?

As we wrap up celebrating with Scott Manley, meet Dr. Nick Gorkavyi, Ph.D., Science Systems and Applications, Inc (SSAI)'s Lead Programmer/Analyst and distinguished astronomer and planetary scientist.

He will tell his personal story about a bolide who missed a city but shattered all glasses in it even from several kilometers: https://hubs.la/Q04zRpTr0

Are there Rivers on the Moon?

Continuing our celebration of , we spotlight Dr. Nick Gorkavyi, SSAI's Lead Programmer/Analyst and distinguished astronomer and planetary scientist.

By analyzing polar craters on the Moon, Dr. Gorkavyi identified macroscopic flow patterns that may be caused by water. Because these conditions only exist near the lunar poles, where water can accumulate, these features offer compelling evidence of melting water flows, or lunar rivers.

Can we forecast weather on Mars before astronauts touch down? As we continue , meet Dr. Oreste Reale, Corporate Chief Scientist, at Science Systems and Applications, Inc (SSAI).

Dr. Reale leads SSAI’s groundbreaking contribution to the development of the Mars Observing System Simulation Experiments (OSSE) framework, modeling Martian atmospheric dynamics to design future orbital observation networks. By reducing landing uncertainties from kilometers to meters and tracking hazardous Martian dust storms, SSAI’s research is helping to pave the way for safe crewed Artemis and Moon-to-Mars missions.
