Were you holding off on solar? Here's what changed, and what still works.

Homeowners who buy solar with cash or a loan lost the federal tax credit at the end of 2025. Nevada BRIGHT was created to fill that gap. It's a program from the Nevada Clean Energy Fund, the state's green bank, that pairs homeowners with the Nevada Climate Association, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. NCA leases your system to you for at least six years, so it can claim the commercial tax credit and pass those savings directly to you. As part of its mission, NCA also donates a portion of each lease to clean energy projects here in Nevada.

No more tax credit doesn’t mean no savings.

Switch Together is a group solar program run by Solar United Neighbors, a nonprofit. When homeowners join as a group, their combined buying power brings the price down!

Why would a solar company teach you to vet solar companies? We got tired of meeting homeowners burned by the bad ones.

A few years back, we kept walking into homes where people had been misled by door-to-door sales pitches. So we helped start the Nevada Solar Association, a group of installers who agree to a code of ethics and have to actually be based here in Nevada. Then we took it to the Nevada Capitol and pushed for stronger solar consumer protection laws.

One tip that's not on the slides: when you get a contract, make sure the license number on it matches the company name on the Nevada State Contractors Board website. It takes two minutes, and it's one of the easiest ways to catch a problem before you sign.
