Oil finished the day sharply higher as renewed geopolitical risk put supply concerns back in focus.

WTI crude settled at $85.76 per barrel, up 2.8% on the day. Energy stocks also finished higher, with Phillips 66 (PSX) +1.05%, ExxonMobil (XOM) +2.71%, and Chevron (CVX) +2.12%.

At the pump, the story remains more regional. AAA’s August 31 averages show:

U.S. Regular: $4.0807/gal
📍 Nevada Regular: $4.8381/gal
🚛 Nevada Diesel: $5.8796/gal

That puts Nevada regular roughly $0.76 per gallon above the national average.

What drivers ultimately pay reflects more than the price of crude — refining, regional supply, logistics, taxes, and timing all play a role.

Oil finished last week higher as supply risk remained elevated, while Nevada drivers continued to face a sizable regional premium and energy stocks ended Friday mixed.

Crude: WTI settled Friday at $87.06 per barrel, up 0.26% on the day and 5.66% for the week.

Pump: AAA’s August 24 averages show U.S. regular at $4.0991, Nevada regular at $4.7938, and Nevada diesel at $5.8090 per gallon. Nevada regular remains about $0.695 per gallon above the national average.

Energy stocks: Phillips 66 (PSX) finished Friday at $242.87, up 1.20%. ExxonMobil (XOM) closed at $165.11, down 0.63%, while Chevron (CVX) closed at $205.27, down 0.24%.
