Yesterday we took on a job that most people thought we could never get. We had 6 days from time of award to plan this. We bid a tight schedule on this one and put numbers to this that almost everyone said we were crazy and there was no way we could pull it off in the time frame that we laid out. Well Yesterday we did exactly what we had set out to do. Everyone said 10 turns a truck, 2hrs a turn. Then they said there was no way I was getting over 20 sets of duals to show up at 4am on a Saturday. We would be lucky to get 15 to 20 trucks period. We got it done in 9HRS , 166 LOADS, with 26 trucks 21 of them had duals and the 5 singles were super sides. For the first 4 hrs we had a truck leaving the gate every 4 mins. This took everyone working together smoothly to make this work. S R Trucking crushed it with supplying the trucks. Eddie is a badass. The Hollywood Construction pit came in clutch for storage as this dirt will be stored tell the next show they need it. Kit Stokes and his team set this up for success with pit access and route where there wasnt a bottle neck and trucks flowed smoothly. I spent many many hours just running numbers and doing the math. I went and weighed the dirt in a 5 gallon bucket. In mud form, moisture controlled form, and dry just so I could have the closest estimate to my ton per yard weight. I drove the route, researched traffic patterns and times of day. Like we planned from 4am to 8am the trucks all ran 4 loads. After the city woke up at 830-9am times went to 90 min average for 2 to 3 loads per truck. We got this done and man is it a great feeling. We also learned a lot on this first go so now we can plan and know where we need to improve. It was an honor to work with MC2 (squared) and Caterpillar on this and cant wait to do more.
