What a crazy month October was! First DOJ disrupts service for over 2 weeks - telling people that only some records were affected, but in reality they didn't get full service restored until after October 19th and all records back-logged were processed by Monday October 22nd.

If any of your Applicant Agencies have not received their responses, they should send an e-mail to [email protected] to inquire about the status of their records. Basically they would only include the Applicant’s name, ATI number, their ORI number and their Mail Code (if they have one). No other personal information is to be included.

If you are experiencing any other issues besides what is in DOJ's control - feel free to reach out to us by phone.

10/16/18 - California Dept of Justice is NOT processing Applicant Fingerprints due to upgrades to their AFIS processor on October 1st. All Applicant fingerprints are being queued for processing, but as the new AFIS processes fingerprints the priority is CRIMINAL prints. Applicant Processing is creating a back-log which at this time is unknown how long it will take to process. Information from DOJ is non-existant. They are NOT communicating with the PSPs or their peer-provider partners.

DO NOT go to another facility to be printed, because multiple submissions will require additional costs and create more of a back-log. This problem is NOT dependent on a peer-provider, or device manufacturer - it rests solely on DOJ and their inability to upgrade their systems properly or efficiently.

Because not many of you are Facebook "friends" of mine, I thought I'd post this information here - If you don't follow the link and verify that you aren't compromised - then you are an IDIOT - everyone one with a bank account or credit card has a file with Equifax and with almost 50% of the population affected by this you NEED to check for yourself. GET THE WORD OUT AND SHARE THIS INFO!

Yesterday, Equifax, one of the big three credit bureaus, announced a cybersecurity incident which potentially impacts 143 million U.S. consumers. The unauthorized access of the company’s systems occurred between mid-May and July of this year. The intrusion was discovered on July 29th and Equifax immediately took steps to stop the intrusion. According to the Equifax press release, the perpetrators of the breach gained access to names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, addresses, and, in some instances, driver’s license numbers. Equifax has setup a website, www.equifaxsecurity2017.com, to help consumers determine if their information has been potentially compromised and to sign up for credit file monitoring and identity theft protection. That website also has additional information about the security breach and contact information for Equifax Inc. I urge you to visit the website, find out if you were potentially impacted, and sign up for their free services even if you already have a similar service.

September 7, 2017 — Equifax Inc. (NYSE: EFX) today announced a cybersecurity incident potentially impacting approximately 143 million U.S. consumers. Criminals exploited a U.S. website application vulnerability to gain access to certain files. Based on the company’s investigation, the unauthorized a...

Well folks the latest scam in the livescan industry now has a face and name - NLSA Live Scan Classes, a company in Culver City, CA is offering classes to be "CERTIFIED".

DON'T fall for it!. California Department of Justice DOES NOT require training for certification. The ONLY training they require is at the time of installation of the livescan device you purchased from a DOJ approved vendor.

Livescan devices have different software and operate differently, so learning on one machine, but purchasing a different manufacturers device would require you to go through training a second time. A total waste of money on the first training.

April 6th - We have completed testing of the Cross Match LSMS 8.5 software. The CAL DOJ certified version shipped last month had some bugs in it that have been fixed by Cross Match.

We will begin upgrading systems in CA immediately, starting with systems using the LScan Guardian USB. While we have been informed the software will work with the firewire version of the Guardian and ID500 (Rev G and newer), we have not tested this out at this time.

Any facilities using the LSCan Guardian USB should be contacting us for the upgrades to meet the May 1st deadline by CAL DOJ.

We will keep all other facilities up-to-date as we test the software with the different scanners.

Today, CAL DOJ notified LiveScan USA that all livescan sites in California have been sent a letter informing them that their livescan devices must be updated from Windows XP to Windows 7 by January 31st.

The problem most are facing is that CAL DOJ has not certified the Windows 7 version of the Crossmatch LSMS software.

We are looking into what Crossmatch is going to do to with a software upgrade, but we are also looking at an economical solution for replacement software.

Due to the FBI upgrade SNAFU, CALDOJ has taken their automated Voice Response System OFF-LINE.

Applicants and Requesting agencies that have used this tool to check that their records were received by DOJ and processed are NOT able to use the system.

A DOJ Client Services Representative has reported that the Automated VRS will NOT be brought back online after the FBI SNAFU has been resolved. This can be confirmed since the CALDOJ website has removed all references to the VRS from their website and refer the applicant to ONLY contact the Requesting Agency on their livescan request form.

FBI upgrades to their network has created a problem with getting FBI Responses - This problem affects ALL records submitted to FBI, including those from law enforcement agencies. FBI is working on the issues but rather than roll-back the update, they are intent on fixing the problem as they go.

Some responses have taken 2 weeks - some responses have still not been returned in 2 weeks.

This problem IS NOT isolated and has affected all 50 states.

Rumors indicate the new update verifies that the new update verifies ANSI-NIST compliance, and the problem is connected to certain manufacturers that wrote their own version of NIST packaging protocols. Due to the large number of "problem" records, it has created a bottle-neck at FBI which also affects those systems with ANSI-NIST compliant software.

More to come as we hear it - and can verify the rumors.
