Latest flooring job in the books! This was over 600 sq. ft of flooring and took 6 days from start to finish. The total run on this floor was 45' long. It was definitely a challenge, but turned out absolutely fantastic! As you will see, the kitchen floor is different from the rest, and was another great choice by the homeowners! The transition strip between the kitchen and dining room will be installed later, as the trim needs to be installed first. In the first picture, we see the wires for the light. It all looks good, but when I hooked up the new light and turned the switch on, it was not receiving power. So I checked the breaker, it was good....hmmm.... Check the power to the switch...good.... Check the wire at the light... Nothing.... 🤔.... So I checked further back on the wire.... Tester starts beeping! The ground and hot wires were both broken! This was a fire waiting to happen! You can see the insulator strip was charred from the extra resistance. It was a good thing the homeowner decided to change out the light fixture for a new one before this turned into a tragedy! An electrician will be coming in to run a new wire from the switch to the light, as the broken wires are too short for proper code.

First picture shows the concrete pad I poured with the old door. New picture shows the new door I installed. Notice the old door opened outward, with the hinges exposed 😳. The new door opens the correct way, so hinges are on the interior side.
The concrete pad replaces two patio stones and 3 concrete blocks that lined up with the landscape timbers.

The first picture is the old door. You will notice that the hinges were on the exterior side, which made it open out, instead of in. It was time to replace this old door though, as it was falling apart. The new door has the proper placement of hinges being interior, and I wrapped some of the existing wood from the original door frame (this would be an original door that used to be on the house) with aluminum, then sealed with exterior caulking.
