A guy looked at my oil well the other day and said I wonder how many people I could have fed for the price of what it cost to drill that well...
I replied I am not sure, it fed a lot of families in the service industry to build the drilling unit, it fed a lot of people that manned the unit while it was drilling, it fed the completion crews, it fed the people in th factory where the pumping unit was built. I know it fed a bunch of families that built the road, the site, the ones which put in the electrical power, it surely fed a lot of roustabouts, fed a whole lot more for a few weeks when I had them running casing, cementing, swabbing, running tubing and rods. It feeds the families of the pumpers, transport crew to haul oil, refinery staff to produce gas and by products... not to mention the staff that keep it running on a daily basis. And it is going to keep feeding me and my family as well as those who work on it for decades to come......
That’s the difference between capitalism and a welfare mentality. When you buy or make something, you put money in people's pockets, and give them dignity for their skills.
When you give someone something for nothing, you rob them of their dignity and self worth.
Capitalism is freely giving your money in exchange for something of value.
Socialism is taking your money (which you worked for) against your wil. Then giving to others who chose not to work. And telling you it is for the "good of all". I don't mind giving a hand up by helping people support themselves.... I do mind having something shoved in my face and down my throat that I never asked for.
Just think.... if all those of us decide to stop working..... who is going to take care of the others???? The Government?? Well that will never happen because with out people that choose to work, create jobs and pay taxes to the Government will not exist! And that will be the end of the United States as we have all known it.
