⛈️ Hurricane season is here. Is your HVAC system protected?

You know how quickly a storm can pop up in North Carolina.

The sky gets dark. Lightning starts. The lights flicker. Maybe the power goes completely out.

Then everything comes back on.

But have you ever thought about what’s happening electrically during all of that?

Your AC unit shouldn't need refrigerant added every year. Just like your body needs blood, your AC needs refrigerant to function. If it's low, there's a leak, and adding more is just a costly band-aid, not a fix. Get the leak repaired to protect your system.

When it feels like 106–107° outside, your air conditioner is working about as hard as it ever will.

A few reminders:

• Don’t expect your home to feel like a refrigerator when we’re dealing with extreme heat.
• Keep blinds and curtains closed, especially on the sunny side of the house.
• Make sure your air filter is clean.
• Avoid turning the thermostat way down thinking it will cool the house faster. It won’t.
• Most importantly, keep an eye on kids, pets, elderly family members, and anyone working outside.

And if your AC starts struggling, don’t wait until it quits completely. Extreme heat has a way of finding the weak link in an HVAC system.
