"Leadership is an active daily choice, and that's what Heath and Kevin have been demonstrating since the very first moment we met."

That's from Parissa, the studio owner of the new YogaSix in Naples, FL. She sent it to the team after a project that had its share of challenges, and what she kept coming back to was that PM Heath and Superintendent Kevin stayed in her corner the whole way through.

The space backs it up. A premium sound system, 360-degree LED lighting to set the mood for any class, and an HVAC system that can move from 70 to 105 degrees and back in minutes, which took real coordination between our engineers, the manufacturer, the electricians, and the HVAC crew to pull off here.

Thank you to Heath and Kevin for embodying the "easy button" mentality and seeing the project through the right way.

If you are looking for a construction partner who makes the process easier, we would love to talk. Send us a message so we can reach out.

We wrapped another D1 Training location, this one at Brandon Centre South in Brandon, FL.

D1 is a client we love building for, and their locations always come together really well. We've built enough of them now that the process is dialed in. We know the brand standards, and we've seen the spots where a first-time owner usually has questions.

A D1 buildout has a lot of moving parts. For a new owner, it usually comes down to two questions: will it open on time, and will it stay on budget. There's a real difference between a contractor figuring that out on your project and one that's built this franchise out plenty of times before. We know the long-lead items, how permitting tends to play out, and where costs creep on a buildout like this. Fewer of them become the surprises that push an opening back or run up the bill.

That's what lets us be the easy button for anyone opening a D1. If that's you, or you're still deciding, reach out and we'll walk you through what the build actually looks like.

Memorial Day is for the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country. Today, we remember them.

We don't take that lightly. Every space we get to build, every door we get to open for a client, every crew that heads home safe at the end of the day, all of it rests on a foundation those men and women paid for. We're grateful for their sacrifice.

A few of the traditions you'll see this weekend, and where they come from:

Taps. The 24 notes played at military funerals were arranged in July 1862 by Union General Daniel Butterfield. It started replacing the three rifle volleys at burials when an artillery captain didn't want the volley fire to signal the enemy that fighting had resumed. The Army made it official in 1874.

The folded flag. The flag draped over a service member's casket gets folded 13 times into a tight triangle, until only the blue field and white stars are visible. The shape mirrors the tricorn hats worn by Revolutionary War soldiers. It's then presented to the next of kin.

The wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Wreaths are laid at the Tomb throughout the year, each one presented to the sentinel on duty, set before the Tomb, and followed by a moment of silence for the service members who were never identified.

The guard at that Tomb. It's been watched every hour of every day since July 2, 1937. The sentinel's walk is exact: 21 steps, a 21-second pause, then 21 steps back. The number ties to the 21-gun salute. Earning that post is one of the hardest things in the Army. Most don't make it.

So, from all of us at HL Contractors, thank you. To the men and women who gave everything, and to the families they left behind. We remember them today, and we're grateful every single day.

We wrapped a 20,000 SF warehouse refresh in Morrow, GA, with a 2,500 SF spec suite office pod built right inside it for our client.

The warehouse got fresh paint and new lighting fixtures throughout. The office pod is a finished, move-in-ready suite sitting inside the larger building, reached by the semi-permanent custom ADA ramp we posted about a few weeks back.

A 20,000 SF footprint is a lot of ground to cover. The small stuff still got the same attention it would on a job a tenth the size, and that's what made the client's vision come through. If you need an easy button for an upcoming project or buildout, send us a message.

Project complete: a full office build-out for a private client in Kennesaw, GA.

This space started as an 1980s office. Our job was to turn it into a modern workplace, and getting there took tight coordination across every subcontractor on the project. New finishes throughout brought the space back to life.

The coordination is the part that a client should never have to feel. We keep it on our side of the table so the build stays headache-free and the client just gets a finished space.

That's what being the easy button looks like.

If you've got a dated space that needs to become a modern workplace reach out.

In a skin and laser clinic, the space itself is part of the experience. It has to feel as clean and precise as the work happening inside it.

We took an existing skin and laser clinic in Marietta, GA, and brought it up to date. New treatment rooms built around advanced laser technology, and a refreshed reception area designed to feel welcoming the moment a patient walks in.

One detail worth a closer look: a 30-foot surface-mounted linear light running the full length of the hallway into the reception area (see photo 7). It pulls the whole space together.

When the finished work has to match the standard of care being delivered, the details are not optional. That's what we do.

If your next medical or clinical space needs this kind of work, send us a message. We would be happy to help.

Every space we build tells a story. On our team, a lot of those stories are written by moms who keep the projects moving and their families running, often in the same hour.

To the moms at HL, and to every mom out there doing the same in her own way, thank you for everything you do. We couldn't do any of it without you.

Happy Mother's Day from the HL team and the moms who make it all possible.

Essex Jewelry. One of our favorite retail projects on file.

Retail buildouts for jewelers come with their own checklist. Display lighting that does the products justice. Custom display cases coordinated with the millwork. Security infrastructure routed where it has to be without showing in the finished space. Finishes that read premium without competing with what's in the cases.

This one delivered on all of it.

If you're a jeweler or retail operator planning a buildout, our team is ready to execute.

Project Complete: IHG Ruby Model Room.

Building a model room for a hotel brand is a different kind of project. The whole point is to showcase the finishes, accents, and design details that will set Ruby apart at every IHG property going forward. Get one detail wrong and it shows up in every future build.

The standout details on this one: a veneer brick wall and a Tuscany plaster column tucked near the bar area. Both bring texture and warmth that you don't usually see in a standard hotel room. The IHG-provided headboard was the finishing piece that pulled the whole space together.

These are the projects where ex*****on has to match the design intent, because the model is what every future Ruby room will be measured against. Quiet pride on this one.

If you're a hospitality operator or developer planning a model room or a full property buildout, send us a message. We would love to help.

Our headquarters at 403 Swanson Drive in Lawrenceville is officially on the market!

This is where HL Contractors grew. Where projects across the Southeast have been estimated, managed, and delivered out of this building, and a lot of the company we've built happened inside these walls.

The property is 6,800 SF total. 5,600 SF office and 1,200 SF warehouse, currently configured at 5,200 / 1,100. Open ceiling with exposed steel beams and a 16-foot deck height. 16 private offices, a conference room, and a private huddle room. 8-foot interior doors with sidelights. Full breakroom with a coffee counter, dedicated printer/copier area, and a custom community table. Large restrooms plus a private owner's restroom with shower. The warehouse has a 10-foot roll-up door with drive-up access. Outside, a newly paved and striped lot with 30+ parking spaces and a fenced laydown yard for equipment, storage, or fleet. Furniture and décor are negotiable for a turnkey move-in. Zoned LM (Light Manufacturing), minutes from downtown Lawrenceville with quick access to Hwy 316, I-85, and Atlanta.

For a company looking to grow into something, this building was a big part of ours. It can do the same for the next team that takes it on.

Big news coming soon as HL moves headquarters and on to more growth, opportunities, and success. More on that story in the weeks ahead.
