🎉 An important part of supporting Better Lives is celebrating our people, whether they’ve been with us for decades or spent a few short years making a difference. 🎉

In the past few weeks, JBM has had the bittersweet honor of sending off two valued team members to a well-deserved retirement: warehouse manager Dan Price and first-shift trainer Susan Jordan.

These two individuals had very different career paths and roles within JBM, but what they have in common is what has made them fantastic team members: commitment to hard work and company values, and a readiness to mentor and help others.

Dan’s teammate Lindsey Watzek shared that in the three years they worked together, Dan taught her that “being a good leader isn’t just about getting the job done; it’s about understanding, supporting, and genuinely valuing the people you lead.”

Lindsey offered this heartfelt tribute to Dan: “I’m grateful for everything you taught me, the guidance you gave me, and the example you set. You made a lasting impact on me as a leader and as a person.”

Meanwhile, at Susan’s retirement celebration, team members unanimously said they would miss her fun, memorable pranks and humor. Everyone agreed that production shifts won’t be the same with her gone!

Yesterday was a big day for JBM. After a year of construction and installation, we finally cut the ribbon on our new facility! ✂️ 🎀

Community partners and guests at our grand opening got an inside look at the new building, which will be dedicated to our rapidly expanding contract packaging services like filling, kitting and fulfillment.

Cincinnati's Channel 5 WLWT was there to capture the action and get great interviews with CEO Marcus Sheanshang and shift lead Stephanie Towns.

💖 Twelve amazing candidates for Team Member of the Year were honored at last week's JBM Packaging annual awards dinner. 💖

Each and every one of these team members had already been recognized for going above and beyond as Core Value Role Model of the Month. They had all been living examples of JBM values:

🌱 Growth Mindset
💡 Innovation
🌎 Passion for a better world

Their coworkers faced the difficult task of choosing just one candidate to vote for.

And when all the votes were counted, Emily Caton came out on top.

Emily was recognized as Team Member of the Year for her phenomenal leadership on second shift. Her nomination reads, in part:

“Emily has created an atmosphere of teamwork on her shift through motivating and supporting each team member so they can perform their best. Emily leads by example, so you will often find her running a machine to maximize output or inspecting product so that others can focus on production. Emily is a role model for JBM of someone who takes full ownership of her position, shift, and responsibilities, and who has the grit to work through difficult challenges on second shift when support resources are not readily available.”

Congratulations to Emily and the rest of the nominees for their amazing examples of values in action!

The awards dinner also recognized members of the 💎 Emerald Oak Club 💎, an honor designated for JBM Packaging team members who have been with the company for 20 years or more. This year, the club welcomed four new members:

❤️ Sometimes, it’s the simple things that matter most. ❤️

Take, for example, a brand-new backpack filled with school supplies. This simple collection of items 🎒 ✏️ 📔 🖍️ 🎨 🎧 📚 signifies new beginnings and infinite possibilities for a child.

That’s why, each August, JBM Packaging fills and distributes backpacks to team members’ children. This small investment of time and money pays off with the knowledge that we brought joy to the kids and helped frazzled parents check one item off their back-to-school to-do list. It’s a way to make a difference and create Better Lives.

Father’s Day is next week, and we’re getting ready with dad jokes!

Here are a few groaners that all have to do with a subject near and dear to our hearts: packaging!

💍 I knew a man who proposed with a ring inside an envelope. He wanted to seal the deal.

🪟 I forgot my wife's birthday, and all I could find to give her was glassine paper. She saw right through that.

🫘 Why do seeds never get lonely? They're always in packs.

✉️ My boss told me to think outside the box, so I filled my cubicle with envelopes instead.

💰 The embezzler at the plastic bag factory was difficult to catch. He didn't leave a paper trail.

📦 I was working on a joke about kitting, but it never came together.

📨 I thought my joke about shipping was hilarious, but no one laughed because I messed up the delivery.

🫧 Why did the little bubble wrap go to school? He wanted to get better at pop quizzes.

✈️ Did you hear about the performance artist who tried to stow away on a FedEx plane? He wanted to express himself.

🍬 I found some candy canes from last year that were still in their original packaging. I opened one, and sure enough, it was in mint condition.

🌱 It’s , and the green-thumbed team members at JBM Packaging have been hard at work—both at their home gardens and at the garden out front at JBM Headquarters! A bumper crop of strawberries required an impromptu harvest by the Garden Committee, and coworkers reaped the delicious rewards! 🍓 🍓 🍓
