Today is for the people who build, fix, create, operate, haul, frame, dig, and get their hands dirty making things happen.

We may build some pretty wild things, but none of it happens without the hardworking people behind them.

This Labor Day, we’re proud to recognize our own crew and all the skilled tradespeople who show up every day and get the job done.

**Here’s to the hands that build America. 🇺🇸🔨**

Happy Labor Day from Loman Construction.

Every build starts somewhere… and sometimes it starts with moving a whole lot of dirt.

The site is taking shape, the groundwork is underway, and this one is just getting started.

We’ll be following this build from the ground up, so stay tuned. You’re going to want to see what’s coming next.

This is only the beginning. 🔨

Pouring rain. Loaded boat. Island job.

Not every workday comes with blue skies and easy access.

Our crew headed across the water yesterday in conditions that were anything but comfortable, because when there’s work to be done, they show up and get it done.

That’s the kind of crew we’re proud to have.

And a special shoutout to Mike for getting the footage yesterday, allowing your social media department to document this dedication from a safe, warm, and most importantly dry location. 🤣

Remote locations. Rough weather. Whatever it takes to get there.

We build the wild things!

Apparently it’s World Beard Day, so we’d like to take a moment to recognize the real backbone of the trades:

Men with beards.

The sawdust collectors.
The pencil holders.
The built-in winter face insulation.
The guys who somehow come home with half the jobsite still stuck in there.

To all the hardworking, coffee-drinking, truck-driving, tool-slinging blue-collar men out there proudly sporting a face full of questionable grooming decisions…

Today, we salute you.

May your lines be straight, your batteries be charged, and your beard stay clear of power tools.

Happy World Beard Day from Loman Construction. 😂

GOOD WORK DESERVES TO BE RECOGNIZED.

There are a lot of people behind the scenes who help keep our projects moving, and we want to start taking a little time to recognize the ones who consistently show up and do damn good work.

First up: Qualey Excavation

Josh is one of those guys you’re always glad to see pull onto a job. He shows up, knows what he’s doing, works hard, and does the job right. He’s earned a lot of respect from our crew over the years, and we’re proud to have him working alongside us.

Great projects don’t happen because of one company. They happen because good people show up and do good work.

Thanks for being one of them, Josh.

A fancy kitchen is nice. But you know what real luxury is?

Having an outlet exactly where you need it.

No extension cords. No unplugging the coffee maker to use the toaster. No realizing your beautiful new island has nowhere to charge your phone.

Good construction isn't just about how a space looks, it's about how well it works when you actually live in it.

Plan for the pretty. Build for real life.

⚡ CRISPY CRITTER ⚡

Our first Timberverse mini episode has officially escaped into the wild.

Some characters are inspired by real people.
Some situations are inspired by real events.
We’ll let you decide which is more concerning.

Today’s lesson: If Critter says, “I checked the breaker,” you might want to ask a follow-up question.

🎬 Crispy Critter — Episode 1

No Critters were harmed in the making of this episode. His pride is another story.

🍂 THE “BER” MONTHS ARE ALMOST HERE…

SeptemBER → OctoBER → NovemBER → DecemBER.

In Maine, that means it's time to start getting the house ready for what's coming. ❄️
Before winter arrives:

🍂
1.Look UP before the leaves fall. Check your roof for missing/damaged shingles, flashing problems, and anything that looks questionable.

2.Clean the gutters AND check the downspouts. Leaves are obvious, but make sure water is actually being carried away from the foundation.

3.Walk around your foundation. Look for new cracks, gaps, deteriorating areas, and places where water collects against the house.

4.Check where everything enters the house. Pipes, wires, vents and utility penetrations can leave small gaps. Those gaps can mean drafts, moisture—and an invitation for mice looking for winter accommodations.

5.Inspect decks, stairs and railings. A loose stair tread in August gets considerably more interesting when it's covered in ice.

6.Check exterior faucets. Disconnect hoses, shut off and drain lines where appropriate, and winterize outdoor plumbing before the first hard freeze.
Look for air leaks. Check around windows and exterior doors for failed caulking, damaged weatherstripping, and noticeable drafts.

7.Check attic insulation AND ventilation. Heat escaping into the attic can contribute to snow melting on the roof and potentially refreezing near the eaves.

8.Trim questionable branches. Snow and ice add a lot of weight. Dead or damaged limbs hanging over the house, garage, driveway, or power lines deserve attention before winter.

9.Don't forget the camp. Seasonal properties need their own winterization plan: plumbing, water systems, docks/boats, access, rodents, roof condition and anything that won't appreciate sitting unattended through a Maine winter.

Don't wait for the first snowstorm to discover the thing you could have fixed in September.

📌 SAVE this checklist and knock out a few things each weekend this fall.

What would you add to the list?

BUILDER'S DICTIONARY

Today's word: FLASHING

No, we're not talking about *that* kind of flashing. 😂 get your mind out of the gutter!!

In construction, flashing is material installed around areas like windows, doors, roofs, chimneys, and other transitions to direct water away from places it doesn't belong.

It might not be the most exciting part of a project, but properly installed flashing can be the difference between keeping water outside and discovering a very expensive problem later.

Now you know the lingo!

What construction term have you heard but never really understood?
