Marterial shortages have been a huge hurdle throughout this building season.

I have spent 10x more time looking for various building materials from a variety of vendors. Things that would always be an inventory item on the past now takes days or weeks to get.

But that’s ok with me, we keep moving forward

Today we are getting back ordered materials to finish up this beauty of a deck.

Can’t wait!

I finished a project!

My wife likes to call me Mr. 90% because I have a way of starting the next project before I finish the current one, so nothing is ever 100% done at home.

I took the time over this long weekend to spend the time to wrap up my shed remodel and build some barn doors out of the shiplap that I had lying around.

It was nice to get on the tools and make something for a change. Give me a tablesaw over a laptop any day.

This project has been anything but straight forward from the start. Dual exterior wall framing for added insulation, inset windows, plastered openings with minimal trim, 24+ data points, conduits run for future work in every direction, storm water retention program, exposed chrome wood stove stacks running through the main living space, and today we begin an octagonal deck (stay tuned!).

This house has been a crazy amount of work to get to this point and now we are ready to turn the corner get this little beauty finished.

Sometimes making things look simple can be very complicated.

Take this exposed cedar rafter tail detail, looks simple and clean right? The trick was how we’re we going to vent the roof while keeping it simple and clean?

We found some plastic coated corrugated material, sprayed it black and it disappears.

I love it when a plan comes together
