🚧 Major Backyard Transformation Completed – Lenoir City, TN 🇺🇸 🚧
I’ve been meaning to post this project for a while now, and I’m finally getting the chance to share the finished results. This was a very special project for us, not only because of the amount of work involved, but also because of the people we had the opportunity to work alongside throughout the process.
The centerpiece of this project was a massive retaining wall coming in at approximately 210 linear feet long and 8.5 feet tall. This wall completely transformed the property by managing a major elevation change and creating a much more functional, usable outdoor space for the homeowner. Projects of this size take a tremendous amount of planning, coordination, labor, equipment, and attention to detail, and I’m proud of the way everything came together.
For the retaining wall system, we used:
✔️ Heavy-duty retaining wall block
✔️ Multiple layers of geogrid reinforcement for structural stability
✔️ Washed drainage stone behind the wall
✔️ Drain pipe system for proper water management
✔️ Compacted aggregate base material
✔️ Proper backfill and grading throughout the project
A lot of people only see the finished wall, but what really matters is everything underneath and behind it. Proper drainage, reinforcement, and base preparation are what help a retaining wall last long term and perform the way it’s supposed to.
Along with the retaining wall, this project also included:
✔️ Aluminum fence installation for a clean and modern look
✔️ Cedar privacy fence installation using pressure-treated posts and framing
✔️ Grading and site preparation
✔️ Straw and seed installation
✔️ Plant installation and landscaping details
✔️ Irrigation system installation
✔️ Final cleanup and finishing touches throughout the property
I also want to give a big shoutout to our supplier, Acme Block & Brick – Alcoa. Having good suppliers makes a huge difference on projects like this, especially on large-scale retaining walls where material coordination, delivery timing, and quality products matter. We appreciate all the support throughout this project.
One thing I really want to emphasize about this project is the teamwork involved.
I had the opportunity to work alongside two great guys named Mike on this project, and both played an important role in helping make this happen.
One Mike is a very good friend of mine who specializes more in landscaping and hardscaping. He’s been doing this type of work for around 40 years, and I genuinely appreciate the wisdom and experience he brings to projects like this. His crew handled the irrigation portion of the project, and together we worked on landscaping, plants, grading, straw, and finishing details around the property. In this industry, it’s important to have good people around you that you can trust, and we’ve always tried to help each other whenever possible.
The other Mike, Mike Cody, is a General Contractor who also helped make this project possible. Since I was operating as a subcontractor on this project, I wasn’t able to pull the permits necessary for a job of this scale. Thankfully, Mike stepped in and helped handle that side of things so we could move forward properly and keep everything running the right way. I appreciate the opportunity to work with him and look forward to hopefully building an even stronger relationship in the future.
This project honestly means a lot to me.
At the beginning of the year, work can sometimes slow down a little in construction, and having a project like this helped keep my crew busy and moving forward. I’m thankful for the opportunity, thankful for the customer trusting us, and thankful for everyone who played a role in helping bring this vision together.
Projects like this are also a reminder that construction is rarely a one-man job. Good teamwork, communication, and partnerships are a huge part of being able to deliver quality work to customers.
