We purchased this 1949 ring twister in 1985, and she’s still running every day. Through the decades, four generations of our family have worked on this machine. We’ve put in the work—replacing parts, rebuilding spindles, and staying on top of constant maintenance. As the years add up and it gets more challenging to maintain, we've explored alternatives. So far, though, nothing measures up.

About five years ago we started learning how to make braided thread - having only manufactured twisted thread before, we had a lot to learn. Safe to say, it's gone well - our small leather goods customers love having the braided option for a cleaner, more polished look - and our larger boot manufacturing companies love it for their sole stitchers.

Demand is steadily growing, and we're trying to keep up. We've got two more braiders on the way to satisfy demand, and hopefully to add a handful of new colors to our line of waxed cords. Stay tuned!

When we started manufacturing our twisted waxed cord back in the 80s, it was exclusively for shoe factories who used our signature tapered ends. A couple decades later, Rusty — our current owner and third-generation family member to run the business — came across an old Cezoma winder sitting untouched and decided to put it to use.

“Would the general public or small crafters have any use for our thread?”

At the time, it seemed almost silly. Who would want a small roll of thread designed for the shoe industry? It seemed over-engineered for every day use, but come to find out, that’s what would set us apart from a lot of the alternatives on the market.

There was some doubt, but he pressed on — running tests and experimenting with the package size, eventually landing on our now-signature 70-yard rolls. He designed the spool wraps, labels, and color cards, dialed it all in and launched our small put-ups.

Slowly but surely, they started to sell.
Over the years, we’ve added countless colors, expanded into braid, updated our packaging, purchased a new Cezoma (though we still use the original one that started it all), partnered with dozens of distributors, and shipped out more spools than we ever imagined.

It’s always worth trying an idea and seeing where it may take you.

It takes a fair bit of troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and monitoring to keep these ring twisters from the 50s and 60s running well, but we wouldn't have it any other way. Keeping these old machines running just feels right.
