Smackover Lithium has announced the awarding of the EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management) contract for the upstream well field portion of the South West Arkansas Project to Wood Group USA, a global leader in consulting, engineering and operations for the energy and materials sectors.

Wood will deliver EPCM services for the well field surface facilities including well pads, pipelines and related third-party interfaces. The agreement includes a Limited Notice to Proceed that allows work to continue on key activities to de-risk the Project and optimize the construction schedule. The expectation is to engage Wood on a Full Notice to Proceed following a positive Final Investment Decision, which is expected to occur in 2026.

This represents a significant milestone and we are excited by the opportunity to work with Wood and value the experience and reliability they bring to our Project.

We were pleased to recently host representatives and advisers from several Export Credit Agencies, including Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM), Export Development Canada - Exportation et développement Canada (EDC) and Eksfin - Eksportfinansiering Norge (Eksfin), in Arkansas as part of the underwriting and diligence process prior to seeking formal credit approval, supporting the proposed project financing being pursued for the South West Arkansas Project.

Site visits like these provide a valuable opportunity to showcase the years of technical work, operational planning, and expertise that have positioned the project where it is today: the only shovel-ready lithium project in the U.S. preparing to take a Final Investment Decision.

As domestic lithium supply becomes increasingly important to energy and national security priorities, we appreciate the continued engagement with state and local leaders, along with our financing partners, as we advance this critical workstream.

Today marks an important milestone for Smackover Lithium and the South West Arkansas Project. We are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) review process with a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) from the U.S. Department of Energy. The completion of the NEPA review reflects the extensive environmental and community engagement work completed by our team and partners throughout project development and represents a major step forward in advancing a domestic lithium supply chain critical to U.S. energy security, manufacturing, and economic growth.

As we continue progressing toward a final investment decision and construction, we remain focused on responsibly developing one of North America’s most significant lithium resources while creating long-term opportunities for the state of Arkansas and strengthening America’s critical minerals independence.

Thank you to our employees, partners, advisors, local stakeholders, and government agencies who have supported this process and helped move the project forward.

Last Friday, we met with Congressman French Hill, Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee to provide updates on our projects and highlight the significant opportunity the Smackover Formation offers to develop a domestic supply of critical minerals.

Our projects are strategically positioned to create family sustaining jobs, strengthen American supply chains, and expand domestic access to lithium. Smackover Lithium is advancing plans to begin construction on the SWA project later this year, which is on track to become the first commercial scale Direct Lithium Extraction project in North America.

Our own Jesse Edmondson, P.G. took the stage last week at CERAWeek to spotlight a critical piece of the U.S. energy and national security conversation: the need for a domestic critical minerals supply chain.

The discussion highlighted the growing importance of the Smackover Formation as one of North America’s most promising lithium resources, and how the continued evolution of Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) technologies is creating a real opportunity to unlock it.

Exciting to see the momentum building - not just for our team, but for the region where we live and work, and for the broader industry as the U.S. works to secure its place in the global battery supply chain.
