Together, we made an impact.

As part of National Aviation Week, ASEC’s Jacksonville and PAX River teams came together to support the Air Warrior Courage Foundation — raising more than $1,000 with the support of our Charity Committee match.

The Air Warrior Courage Foundation supports active-duty service members, wounded warriors, veterans and their families, making it a cause we’re proud to support.

Thank you to everyone who donated and helped make this fundraiser a success. It’s always rewarding to see what our ASEC teams can accomplish when we come together for something bigger than ourselves.

Meet Amy Egeli, Naval Flight Officer.

Amy's path into Naval Aviation started with a little inspiration from the movie Top Gun, but it was her summer cruises as a midshipman that made the decision real. With a family history rooted in Naval Aviation, she knew she wanted to fly. When her vision kept her from becoming a pilot, she pursued the next best option: NFO.

Amy was one of just five women in her Naval Academy class to receive an NFO slot. She selected P-3s and went on to build the operational experience that would eventually help shape ASEC's early approach to the P-8A program.

Today, that operator perspective remains central to how she approaches the work. Her experience reinforced the importance of bringing engineering, training and testing together — and, most importantly, keeping the operator at the center of the conversation.

Her story includes a nighttime anti-drug intercept over the Caribbean, lessons in leading a P-3 crew through long and demanding missions, and a perspective on why understanding the person behind the system matters.

A little aviation-inspired fun took flight this National Aviation Week.

Teams in both PAX River and Jacksonville put their creativity and aviation skills to work with ASEC’s Paper Airplane Races — and we’re pretty sure there were a few future aircraft designers in the making.

A special shoutout to our winning designs:

PAX River: Jordan Newbury, Sims @ Sea

Jacksonville: Eli Tavarez and Scott Cook, with a joint-entry design. Eli took on the role of pilot, while Scott put his engineering skills to work on the design.

The paper airplanes were all part of a bigger effort to celebrate National Aviation Week, bring our teams together and support a great cause. The activity also helped raise funds for the Air Warrior Courage Foundation, which supports active-duty service members, wounded warriors, veterans and their families.

Thanks to everyone who participated and helped make National Aviation Week a little more fun — one paper airplane at a time.

Meet Lane Drummond, Callsign: 'Sprinkles'

With 24 years of Naval Aviation experience, Lane's career has taken him from P-3C pilot to commanding officer of the VP-26 Tridents. Today, he brings that experience to ASEC as a senior pilot and training expert on our FMS Training Team.

His path to the cockpit wasn't exactly straightforward. He enlisted in the Navy at 17, earned an appointment to the Naval Academy, was selected for Navy pilot as a first-class midshipman, and went on to earn his wings of gold in 2008.

Today, every year he spent in the seat continues to shape the way he approaches training, leadership and the mission at ASEC.

But there's a lot more to Lane's story — including a high-visibility flight that landed his photos in the White House, what engineers might miss about life aboard a P-8A, and the lesson he carries with him about responding to adversity.

Today, we recognize National Airborne Day and honor the Soldiers and service members who have proudly served in airborne units throughout our nation's history.

National Airborne Day commemorates the first official Army parachute jump by the 48-member test platoon on August 16, 1940—an event that marked the beginning of America's airborne forces. Since then, generations of paratroopers have answered the call with courage, determination, and a willingness to go where others cannot.

To all who have earned the right to wear Airborne wings, thank you for your service and commitment to excellence.

At ASEC community starts with showing up.

Meet Kelly Williams, ASEC's Benefits Manager and one of our most active community builders.

Kelly has been part of the Human Resources Association of Southern Maryland (HRASM) since 2007, including a term as Chapter President. But for Kelly, it's never just been about the credentials; it's about the people. "The greatest benefit I've gained from HRASM is the relationships," she says. "Knowing there's a community of peers I can collaborate with has been one of the most rewarding aspects of my career."

She also serves on the Southern Maryland Workforce Development Board, helping connect people, including youth and those facing barriers to employment, with the training and opportunities that build stable, fulfilling careers. "Success isn't defined by a single path," Kelly says. "Circumstances should never determine someone's potential."

From conference rooms to vineyard get-togethers to holiday dinners with her HR peers, Kelly shows up and brings that same spirit of servant leadership back to ASEC every day.
