Theatre Protectives is among the first to receive the new ASTM verification for their ballistic shields equipped with Elzetta handles (both lighted and non-lighted) and ballistic cone fasteners. The new ASTM standards are very stringent and difficult to pass. Theatre and Elzetta stood up to the task and won.

Theatre designs multi-hit lightweight ballistic shields that allow for rapid response.

Elzetta designs durable integrated lighted shield handles that provide 1,000 lumens of neutral tint bright light.

Two TIR (Total Internal Reflection) optical flood lenses spread a room-filling "Wall of Light" to ensure the operator's situational awareness.

A ballistic shield that passes NIJ testing could still have question marks around several vulnerable points.

That changes now. Theater Protectives is among the first to earn the new ASTM verification developed to address these shortfalls. ASTM's shield specific testing protocol goes beyond the standard NIJ shots to include multiple tests.

ASTM shields must withstand three cluster shots in a 4-in diameter circle, edge shots, viewport edge and corner shots at various angles and angled proximity shots at the interface between any fasteners and the shield body. Our exclusive Elzetta ballistic fastener cones pass that test.

ASTM approved shields are only slightly heavier than their NIJ counterparts, but are proven to withstand threat impacts not only from various angles, but in extreme temperature ranges.

Among the challenges of ASTM's criteria is a 45° angle shot into the seam of the viewport and shield body, as well as shots to the viewport glass at a temperature of -20° F. In extreme conditions and unpredictable missions, you can have confidence that your shields will go above and beyond to protect the people who carry them.
