Rails End opened for business in 1974 when Mark Jones and his brother-in-law David Glick set up shop in a small building at 227 McLaughlin Street in Lexington, VA. The business began fabricating predominately cabinets and furniture. - but over the years their business place has grown and they have become more and more involved in metal work. ching vocational Agriculture at Lexington High School. He has a BS Degree from Virgina Tech and extensive training in welding. Mark was joined in 2008 by master machinist Salvatore Campagna. In 2015 they added to their company a welder and fabricating intern - Ashby Clements. In 2021, Ashby Clements purchased Rails End Wood & Metal Crafters. While Mark stays on to advise, Ashby runs the shop along with shop manager Azariah Clements and intern Innis McLiney. Rails End is a shop where all manner of working men, hobbyists and artisans show up in need of repairs or fabrication of special parts and tools. They also come to purchase from the extensive inventory of structural steel and hard to find hardware. But there is much more to this fabulous shop than meets the eye. They do special fabrications: woodmilling; metal fabrication, machining. This shop is responsible for many of the decorative structures in this historic town - and they can make the same structures for you! They do all manner of tool sharpening - something almost everyone needs. Stop by and see what they can do for you! And while you are there, take a look at their 600 pound anvil and the Shearer they have outside.
