We had a great time touring the Harrison County High School construction site alongside members of the Harrison County Board of Education!

It was exciting to see the progress firsthand and reflect on the hard work and collaboration helping bring this project to life. We’re proud to play a part in creating a space that will serve Harrison County students, staff, and the community for years to come.

Architecture is more than amazing designs and artistic moments of a building. Today we want to give much appreciation to our engineers who design the buildings central nervous system. The attention to detail of every component is often covered up by something “photo worthy”. Help us in bringing much appreciation to the engineered systems of Harrison County High School. You can actually see the pride in design from engineer’s and workmanship from the contractors that install these systems that spend their lifetime unseen. Thanks and a job well done!

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001 - a day that forever changed our nation.

We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost, the families who were forever changed, and the brave first responders who ran toward danger to help others. We honor the courage, sacrifice, and selflessness shown that day and in the days that followed.

May we always remember those we lost, honor those who served, and never forget the strength and unity of the American people.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Jack Sykes, one of the original founders of Summit Architects + Engineers.

A graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in Civil Engineering, Jack helped establish Summit in Pikeville, Kentucky, in 1977. With his knowledge of the newly implemented mining regulations at the time, he recognized a growing need for permitting assistance among the region’s mining companies.

Those services became the foundation of Summit’s work for many years and played an important role in establishing the firm’s presence throughout Eastern Kentucky. Jack’s knowledge, vision, and dedication helped lay the groundwork for the company Summit is today.

Nearly five decades later, the foundation he helped build continues through the people, projects, and communities Summit serves.

We are grateful for Jack’s contributions to our firm and to Eastern Kentucky. His legacy will forever remain a part of Summit’s story.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Jack’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him.

"Why do I need an Architect or Engineer?"
That's what most people ask when it comes to even the smallest of projects. Summit enjoys helping our community partners with projects that make a difference.

This past weekend, Fleming-Neon, KY had another Flash Flood. Our project at the Fleming-Neon Library made all the difference...this time!

We designed a flood barrier system that kept flood waters from damaging the newly renovated facility.

So, why do you need an Architect or Engineer? Because we help improve and protect communities and their citizens.

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of one of our retired employees and longtime members of the Summit family, Steve Tackett.

Steve dedicated 21 years to Summit, leaving a lasting impact on our company and the many people who had the privilege of working alongside him. We are incredibly grateful for his years of hard work, dedication, and friendship.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Steve’s family, friends, and all who knew and loved him during this difficult time. He will always be remembered as a valued part of the Summit family.
