Wind can damage roofs in a number of ways, including:
Missing shingles
Strong winds can pry shingles off the roof, causing gaps.
Curled or lifted shingles
Shingles that are curled or lifted at the edges may be affected by wind and could come off soon.
Granule loss
Asphalt shingles have a granular top that protects the roof. If the granules are found in gutters or at the base of downspouts, it could indicate wind damage.
Damaged flashing
Flashing is usually made of thin metal and seals the intersections of the roof. Wind damage can cause cracks, bends, or loosening of the flashing.
Water leakage
Water leaking into your property is a serious sign of a roofing issue and should be inspected immediately.
