Are you passionate about land surveying and eager to work with cutting-edge technology? At Ayoroa Simmons, we provide precision-driven geomatics and land surveying services, supporting industries like construction, civil engineering, and land development.

We’re looking for a Survey Technicians to join our growing team! In this role, you’ll work with robotic total stations, terrestrial laser scanners, SLAM systems, UAVs, and GNSS receivers, assisting in boundary, topographic, and construction layout surveys.

What You’ll Do:
✅ Assist in field data collection using advanced surveying equipment
✅ Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot survey instruments
✅ Support survey report preparation and data entry into AutoCAD
✅ Work outdoors in diverse environments alongside experienced professionals

Meet Dan Everhart, one of our CAD/BIM Technicians! Dan has been with us for 3 1/2 years and is an alumni of Louisville Technical Institute and University of Kentucky's College of Design. He has been instrumental on our architectural team, modeling from 3D scanned point clouds, and assisting our coordination team with BIM modeling. Dan also helps assist in IT maintenance in the office and spends time volunteering with Habitat for Humanity on build sites. When not working, he enjoys hiking, camping, biking, kayaking, and various DIY projects, including 3D printing. Fun Fact: Dan is undergoing a basement transformation to create his "makercave." At Ayoroa Simmons, we are redefining the landscape of surveying and geospatial solutions through technological innovation. As a pioneering BIM and Geospatial firm, we push the boundaries of what's possible by utilizing cutting-edge tools like:
- Terrestrial LiDAR scanners
- 3D modeling software
- Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) systems
- Drone technology

What You’ll Do:
- Lead field survey crews to deliver boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, and control surveys.
- Plan and execute survey assignments using GPS, total stations, and other advanced tools.
- Process and analyze data using CAD software to create precise maps and drawings.
- Mentor junior surveyors, fostering a culture of growth and development.
-Collaborate with project managers and clients to meet project timelines and expectations.

What We’re Looking For:
- 10+ years of land surveying experience with 2+ years as a Party Chief.
- Familiarity with 3D laser scanning and drones is a huge plus!
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation).
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license preferred or the ability to obtain it within a year.
- A passion for innovation and precision in the field of surveying.

Our final employee spotlight of 2024 shines on Carey Jones, one of our talented BIM/VDC Specialists!

Early in his career, Carey laid a strong foundation of engineering and CAD expertise, studying General Engineering at Merton Tech and earning his HVAC technician’s certificate at Croydon College in the United Kingdom. This foundational knowledge, along with years of honing his skills in 3D modeling and design, has proven invaluable throughout his career—ultimately making him the skilled BIM/VDC Specialist he is today.
Carey coordinates mechanical systems, produces installation documents, and occasionally supports Scan to BIM projects—ensuring that every detail is meticulously planned and executed.
Outside of work, Carey loves traveling and photography. He has explored numerous national parks, driven much of the Pacific Coast Highway, and logged thousands of scenic miles along the way.
Fun Fact: Originally from the UK and intending to stay in the U.S. for just five years, Carey has since made it his home—and today, he’s a proud U.S. citizen.
