🌅 Early morning in Nicholasville! Today, we’re installing a new roof on a 35-square home, and we’re taking you along for the start of install day.

I like to get here early to check the materials, make sure the crew has everything they need, answer any last-minute questions, and get things ready for tear-off. If you’re home and want to come out and say hello, I’m always happy to walk you through what we’re doing!

Our goal is simple: get your new roof installed efficiently, without cutting corners or treating your home like just another jobsite. We work hard to minimize the disruption to your day, keep the jobsite clean, and get your home protected with a quality roof as quickly as we can.

A smooth install starts before the first shingle ever comes off. 🏠🔨

🌲😂 First, excuse the pine needle that decided to land right on my hat… apparently, even the trees want to be part of this conversation!

Now, let’s talk roof valleys. 👇

Valley metal or ice & water shield—which do you prefer?

We tend to prefer ice & water shield in our valleys over traditional metal valley flashing. Here’s why:

🏠 Extra leak protection: Ice & water shield creates a continuous waterproof membrane beneath the shingles, helping protect against water intrusion.

💧 No exposed metal channel: Metal can get bent, dented, or damaged during installation or over time. A properly installed membrane provides a different kind of protection beneath the shingles.

🔨 A solid layer of defense: Valleys handle a lot of water, especially during heavy Kentucky rain. We like having that extra layer of waterproofing underneath.

Bonus point: the ice and valley shield is self-sealing around the nails 🎉

There’s more than one way to build a valley correctly, and the right approach depends on the roofing system, manufacturer requirements, and local code.

But we want to hear from YOU! Are you team ice & water shield or team valley metal? Tell us why in the comments! 👇

🌧️ Rainy days in Central Kentucky are a good opportunity to see how your home’s exterior is doing!

A few things worth keeping an eye on while it’s raining:
🏠 Water spots or discoloration on your ceilings
💧 Gutters overflowing or leaking at the seams
⬇️ Downspouts that aren’t draining as expected
🌱 Water pooling around your foundation
🏡 Water running behind gutters or down your siding

Sometimes, a good rain reveals issues that aren’t obvious on a sunny day!

If you notice something that doesn’t look quite right, give us a call. We’re happy to take a look and help you figure out what’s going on. No pressure—just honest answers from your local roofing and construction team.

❄️ SNOW BARS❄️
Winter prep starts before the first snowfall!

We’re up on a commercial roof in Lexington installing snow bars on a metal roof. Last winter brought plenty of snow and ice, and this building experienced large amounts sliding off the metal roof onto the lower *TPO* (I misspoke! Oops) roof.

Snow bars help hold snow and ice in place, allowing it to release more gradually rather than all at once. It’s a relatively simple addition that can help protect lower roof sections and prevent a lot of headaches when winter weather hits.

A little preparation now can make a big difference later! 🏠
