Chrysler has recalled over 200,000 Dodge and Ram SUVs and trucks for a software malfunction that could disrupt essential driving functions and increase the risk of a crash, according to documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The software issues could affect the antilock braking system (ABS) and electronic stability control, which help prevent skidding and the loss of the vehicle’s control.
The recall covers certain models of these vehicles:
2022 Dodge Durango
2022 Ram 2500
2022 Ram 3500
The recalled vehicles were manufactured between April 2021 and December 2022, affecting an estimated 524 Ram 3500s, 157,890 Ram 2500s and 53,167 Dodge Durangos, said the safety recall report.
Dealers are expected to mail notification letters to owners beginning on July 26.
To fix the issue, dealers will update the antilock braking control module software free of charge.
