⚡ This week is Public Power & Natural Gas Week across the U.S.!

What's special about public power and natural gas utilities? They are locally owned and operated, giving communities a direct connection to the people who provide their electricity. The focus is simple: provide safe, reliable and affordable energy while supporting the communities we call home.
From powering local businesses and schools to keeping homes comfortable, public power is power for the people, by the people.

Today was the first day of the inaugural Heartland Municipal Lineworkers Training Conference in Grand Island, Neb. The rain was no match for our public power lineworkers as they built the training facility that will serve as a hands-on training ground for public power utilities for years to come.

The Municipal Energy Agency of Nebraska partnered with Grand Island Utilities Department and several other municipal utilities to develop the conference and new training ground. More than 40 utilities spanning across Nebraska and Colorado are participating in this first conference. Wednesday's activities include classroom sessions on line construction, pole specifications and plenty of knowledge sharing with colleagues. The Conference wraps up on Thursday.
