Inflammation was tracked via IRDye®800CW 2-deoxyglucose in the 800-nm fluorescent channel and P. aeruginosa Xen5 was visualized using the bioluminescent channel, both on the LI-COR Pearl In-vivo Imager.

The same concept could be applied to other areas of research including cancer therapeutics where tumor burden is measured using the bioluminescent channel and your targeted labeled therapeutic is tracked (biodistribution) in a fluorescent channel.
