THE FIRST FREEZE IS COMING! IS YOUR PLUMBING READY?

The first freeze of the season is a good reminder to protect your pipes before temperatures drop! A little preparation now can help you avoid frozen pipes, unexpected leaks, and costly repairs later.

🚰 Here are a few tips to get your plumbing ready:

* Disconnect garden hoses from outdoor faucets.

* Protect outdoor faucets with insulated covers.

* Insulate exposed pipes in garages, crawl spaces, and other unheated areas.

* Seal drafts around pipes where cold air can sneak inside.

* Know where your main water shutoff is in case a pipe freezes or bursts.

* Keep your home warm and open cabinet doors under sinks on exterior walls to allow warm air to circulate.

Don't wait until a pipe freezes to think about plumbing protection! A little prevention goes a long way toward keeping your home safe and your water flowing.

Zephyr's journey has been an incredible one of resilience and triumph. Capital Humane Society is now expanding their efforts to assist animals in similar situations that require higher levels of care and intervention through the Zephyr's Fighting Chance Fund. We are proud to support their commitment to the well being of animals in need.

One year ago, Zephyr was fighting for her life. ❤️

Found emaciated in a field in Otoe County, Zephyr arrived at Capital Humane Society dangerously thin and weak. With intensive veterinary care, specialized treatment at Kansas State University, and an entire community cheering her on, she fought her way back.

Thousands of people followed her journey. News outlets shared her story, messages of encouragement poured in, and this tiny dog became something of a local celebrity. We were blown away by the support!

Zephyr is healthy, loved, and home. And we think that’s worth celebrating.

In honor of this little fighter and everyone who cheered her on, we’re launching Zephyr’s Fighting Chance Fund, helping provide specialized, critical, and urgent veterinary care for shelter pets facing extraordinary medical needs.

Zephyr’s story could have ended one year ago. Instead, we hope her fighting chance is only the beginning. Now, her legacy can give one to the next pet who needs it.

October's spot light adoption partnership is Princess, a 6 year old Pit Bull!

This cutie came to CHS when her previous owner could no longer care for her. She is sweet, playful, and would enjoy a family to call her own that will give her all the love and snuggles she deserves. Princess would love to meet you! Come fall in love with her today!
