The NEW PF2150-F Flare Ignition System has arrived! 🔥

When a flare ignition issue turns into a troubleshooting cycle, your team needs clear information, reliable relight, and a system that’s practical to support in the field.

The PF2150-F does that and more. It’s purpose-built for single-pilot, single-flare applications that need reliable ignition control without added complexity.

Upgrade to the PF2150-F to:

✅ Maintain reliable uptime with automatic relight capability
✅ Reduce troubleshooting guesswork with timestamped event logs
✅ Add remote visibility with RS485 Modbus communication
✅ Improve control with programmable ignition & shutdown setpoints

For existing PF2100F users, it’s our recommended upgrade path when the timing is right. For teams using older FIS equipment or manual ignition practices, it’s a practical step toward better reliability and supportability.

Is your plant expansion set up for success?

New heater capacity puts pressure on startup, controls, and plant integration.

Momentum Midstream faced that challenge during an expansion at its Gillis Treating Facility in Ragley, Louisiana. The site added six new 60 MMBTU direct-fired forced-draft hot oil heaters to increase their gas processing capacity.

Profire worked alongside a heater OEM to supply the burner management and combustion controls package for all six heaters, plus the integration and commissioning support needed to support startups in the field.

Here’s what was included:

✅ 6 x PF3100 BMS controllers
✅ Fuel-air ratio control with VFD control and feedback
✅ O2 analyzer support for field instrumentation
✅ Modbus-to-TCP/IP Ethernet integration for plant communications
✅ Loop checks, startup commissioning, operator training, and turnover support

During commissioning, gas quality issues affected startup and pilot performance, while low-fire airflow created challenges for light-off.

Identifying those issues before startup gave Momentum Midstream clearer direction for improving startup performance and gave the OEM field feedback to guide future heater optimization.

What’s the difference between a system that trips CONSTANTLY and one that ALMOST NEVER repeats the same error? Process discipline.

Most recurring burner trips happen because investigations only address the immediate symptom, failing to uncover what broke the permissive chain in the first place.

While this approach gets the system back up and running quickly, it can lead to repeated shutdowns over time because the root cause is never identified.

To solve this, we use a troubleshooting process that pinpoints the root cause, shortens maintenance cycles, and significantly reduces repeat callouts. It’s a 3-step process:

1️⃣ Identify the first-out (the initiating permissive).
2️⃣ Review trends leading up to the event.
3️⃣ Confirm the issue mechanically and electrically in the field.

Want fewer repeat trips and faster restarts? Turn trips into opportunities with our team’s post-trip investigation process.

Stable combustion supports responsible operation. 🌍 This Earth Day, focus on the losses you can control.

Earth Day often spurs big-picture conversations, but real impact is made through practical, on-the-ground action.

For combustion-heavy industries, responsible operation is about reducing everyday losses like:

➡️ Wasted fuel from unstable or inefficient combustion
➡️ Avoidable emissions tied to poor combustion or repeated restarts
➡️ Extra windshield time from nuisance trips and limited system visibility

If you’re looking for a tangible place to start today, ask:

❓ Are our combustion systems maintaining stability across normal operating conditions?
❓ Are repeated trips increasing fuel use and avoidable emissions?
❓ Can we diagnose and resolve issues quickly, or are troubleshooting gaps driving unnecessary field visits?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, you have an opportunity to make meaningful improvements.

Stable combustion isn’t just a performance metric. It’s a control problem. And when it’s addressed with the right burner management, combustion control, automation, and troubleshooting visibility, many of these losses can be identified and corrected before they stack up.

Improving combustion stability, reducing nuisance trips, and increasing troubleshooting visibility doesn’t just optimize performance. It supports better efficiency, reduces wasted fuel, and helps limit emissions tied to poor combustion and repeated cycling.

That’s a practical way to think about responsible operations.

What’s one operational improvement you’ve seen reduce fuel waste or emissions in the field?

When a line heater with aging pneumatics can’t recover from burner dropouts on its own, uptime suffers fast.

That was the challenge at Williams’ North Tacoma site, where an aging pneumatic-driven Triple-Tube Line Heater required regular manual re-lights and offered limited visibility between operator rounds.

Profire upgraded the system to an automated 3-burner platform built around PF2200 BMS controllers, improving runtime consistency, and reducing manual intervention.

Here’s what we included:

✅ 3 x PF2200 BMS Controllers powering 3 burners and 3 valve trains
✅ Automatic re-light capability
✅ Independent setpoint control across 3 burner tubes
✅ Load-sharing modulation across all 3 burners
✅ New burners and resized orifices to match desired BTU rating
✅ Bullseye flame arrestors and implementation support to address site noise concerns

After commissioning, the heater moved from a manual, stop-and-start setup to a more reliable and efficient automated system. The result was more consistent runtime, better visibility into heater status, less fuel gas waste, and even wear across components.
