Just showing a cost effective way to replace a foundation with out lifting up the whole building , I had my crew brace up the building using LVLs and hemlock posts with bracing underneath , then had Rick Mason excavate the bad foundation only taking out front wall first , I had a lazer level frost wall poured 28” down from grade . Then I had the building leveled up 28” up to sill using temporary posts . We then had a mason , block the remaining foundation filling the blocks with mortar and using a bond beam on third row . The last row was a 4”x 8”x 16” solid block that slid in without cutting . After that the temporary posts were removed and that area that was spaced correctly was finished up , it went off without a hitch !

I accepted a job replacing the windows on this house owned by Open Door Church , built in 1871 according to this news article from 1951 for a David Corbett who’s family played a very important part in the development of Lisbons manufacturing plants , The home was built by William Ham a local carpenter once shipbuilder at the shipyards at Bath , The land was once owned by Dr. Gerrish who lived up across from the farewell mill , house lots around this property were later sold off . This home interested me because my Wife and I built a similar replica of this style home on Frost Hill Ave.

When having a home built or addition ask your builder about the cost difference between steel Bilco doors vs a doghouse structure , plan it away from windows , we have converted many over the years , and I have another one to do in Lisbon soon , I used smart siding on this one to keep the cost down ,the homeowner loves it and I told her she could put shelf’s and hang tools in it too, I had to elbow her dryer vent but it went well !
