High adrenaline can impact decision-making, but split-second decisions around electricity can mean life or death. If a vehicle makes contact with a power line, STOP. Assume it is energized.

If the vehicle is operable: direct the driver to drive away.
If the vehicle is inoperable: The driver must stay inside the vehicle.
If the driver is in danger, they must open the door, jump out with arms crossed, feet and legs together and bunny hop or shuffle until they are 33 feet away.

πŸ“ž When in doubt, call your local electric co-op.

Here's the truth: even brand-new homes can have gaps, air leaks or insulation issues that let heat slip out and drive energy use up. Features like smart thermostats and updated appliances help, but efficiency still depends on how the home is built and maintained over time.

Simple steps like sealing drafts, checking insulation and monitoring your energy use can make a new home even more efficient and comfortable.

Warm summer nights are perfect for roasting marshmallows, sharing spooky ghost stories and reminiscing with loved ones β€” but a fun night around the fire can quickly become dangerous without proper safety protocols.

πŸ”₯ Make sure your fire pit is in an open area away from trees, buildings and power lines.
πŸ”₯ Keep a shovel and water close. In an emergency, use the water to quench the fire and the shovel to smother the flames with dirt.
πŸ”₯ Never leave a fire unattended. Pour water over live embers and turn the logs to make sure all sides of the wood have stopped burning.
