Congratulations to Leadership Arkansas Class XX!

SPP is proud to celebrate Zeynep Vural, Senior Manager of Treasury and Credit at SPP, on graduating from the 2025–2026 Leadership Arkansas program. Over the past nine months, Class XX brought together leaders from across Arkansas who are committed to strengthening their communities and making the state a better place to live and work.

Sunny Raheem, SPP’s director of system planning, reporting to Casey Cathey, vice president of engineering, leads the development of the Integrated Transmission Plan (ITP) each year. The ITP is essential for ensuring the grid has the capability of handling and transferring power to meet the growing demand across SPP’s 17-state footprint. Each month, SPP employees select a local or national organization to support. For May, in recognition of National Foster Care Awareness Month, we’re proud to spotlight Immerse Arkansas, an organization that has served Arkansas youth for the past 15 years.

Immerse supports young people ages 14–24 who are aging out of foster care, fleeing unsafe situations, or experiencing trafficking or homelessness. They equip youth with the tools and support they need to begin healing and move from crisis to overcoming.

Throughout May, SPP staff will be raising funds to support Immerse and their mission to help young people build stability, hope, and brighter futures.

As electricity demand across SPP’s 17-state region continues to grow, so does the complexity of keeping the grid reliable. From extreme weather to retiring generation, the challenges are evolving but so is the approach.
