New Publication Alert:
Proteomic subtyping of brain region-specific astrocytes was achieved by microscopy-guided regional photo-biotinylation and mass spec analysis using Microscoop®. Paraformaldehyde-fixed, OCT-embedded mouse brain tissue was used and astrocytes of hippocampal and cerebral cortical regions were separately isolated to identify region-specific proteomes. Novel candidate markers, MINK1 and PLEKHB1, showed preferential expression in hippocampal and cortical astrocytes, respectively.

In our user group meeting, Dr. Bram Van den Bergh of VIB shared his experience putting Syncell’s Microscoop® through its paces across diverse research projects and sample types.

In this clip, Bram highlights work with human sural nerve biopsies, where Microscoop identified proteins from targeted Schwann cell and axonal regions—identifying putative novel protein contents in these regions.

With 25 VIB research groups responding to an early call for Microscoop projects, the interest speaks to the range of questions researchers are looking to explore with this approach.
