The bore of a King performance bearing is not round. That is deliberate.

Thicker at the centerline than at the parting line, it holds a stable oil wedge without the knocking extra clearance brings. How much you need depends on your RPM.

If a shell moved in its housing, the running face will not tell you. Turn it over.

Too little crush and the shell can move. Too much can lead to fatigue & cracks. The right number changes with the housing material and with temperature.

Bearing clearance isn’t just a number, it directly affects how the oil film supports the crankshaft under load.

Too tight can restrict oil flow. Too loose can increase oil demand and change how the load is distributed. The right clearance depends on the application, oil viscosity, journal finish, and more.

Swipe to see how clearance is measured, what changes between tight and loose, and why tighter is not always better.

Copper showing means the overlay has worn through. It does not tell you why.

Bronze lining fatigue, overlay fatigue, surface wear, a distorted rod, journal geometry and cavitation can all leave similar-looking damage, and each one needs a different fix. Replace the bearing without finding the cause and you will see the same pattern again.

Swipe to see what separates them.
