In Virginia, Newport News Public Schools is running more than half of its bus fleet on propane and saving hundreds of thousands of dollars. The school division pays $1.14 a gallon for propane fuel, compared to $4.24 a gallon for diesel. Last year, that difference saved the division about $439,000. https://bit.ly/4qurtLc

During the 2025–26 school year, Indiana’s Wa-Nee Community Schools paid an average of $0.99 per gallon for propane autogas. By running nearly half of its 56-bus fleet on propane, the district saves roughly $10,000 for every 30,000 miles driven.
