Not every interesting LiDAR discovery is an archaeological site or historic fortification. This unusual landscape feature in the Mississippi Delta becomes far more apparent through LiDAR imagery. A series of interconnected ponds, channels, berms, and islands appear to have been intentionally shaped into a large-scale design visible only from the air.

LiDAR reveals what seem to be the letters "DU" along with additional lettering that may read "DUCKS UNLIMITED" and "NRCS." Historical aerial imagery suggests this unusual landscape feature was created around 2006.

The feature appears to have been intentionally engineered as part of a modern landscape or wetland project, demonstrating how large-scale earthmoving can leave signatures on the landscape that are nearly invisible from the ground but become strikingly clear when viewed through LiDAR.
