AggieAir USU Utah's source for unmanned aerial vehicles & scientific remote sensing. A Service Center of UWRL

AggieAir collaborates with researchers across disciplines to provide critical aerial data with UAVs. We recently worked with Dr. Kelly Kopp to fly research plots in Logan, Utah and assess vegetation conditions.
With applications ranging from vegetation monitoring to broader water-related research challenges, AggieAir’s flexible platforms and technical expertise continue to expand the role of aerial remote sensing in applied research across Utah and beyond.

The AggieAir Service Center based out of the Utah Water Research Laboratory at Utah State University is excited to announce improved flight capabilities using the PRISM Lite VTOL in conjunction with the ROCK robotics R3 Pro LiDAR. We have recently completed flight testing and can now state that we can capture LiDAR data over 100 acres in a single flight; this is double the acreage when compared to using our DJI M-300 VTOL. Data capture using this new platform has helped us to reduce costs across the board.

The AggieAir Service Center recently collaborated with Logan and Nibley cities to get an overall view of this year’s high river flows. AggieAir’s unmanned aerial vehicles, or UAVs, offer a safe, quick and very high-resolution option for mapping the river’s high flows and assessing both the extent of the flooding and the success of flood mitigation efforts.

The imagery they collected can also be used to help verify that current flood models accurately predict future flooding events.

The raging Logan River this spring was both a novelty and a potential hazard, but it was also an opportunity.
