Before a car accident, Leah was pursuing her PhD, translating medical research, and raising her son.

Then everything changed.

Cognitive difficulties. Vision problems. Muscle spasms. Chronic fatigue. Unexplained symptoms.

She went from translating complex medical research to struggling to read a simple text message.

Years of specialists, MRIs, treatments, and unanswered questions.

Evaluation at the Mayo Clinic couldn't fully explain her symptoms,
she was referred for psychological evaluation.

𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗵 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴. 𝗦𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴.

SHE FOUND DR. LOU SAEGER AND VMA®.

Using VMA® Dr. Saeger evaluated how her spine moved not just how it looked on static imaging.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀:

• Cervical instability involving C1–C2.

• Degenerative changes at C5–C6 previously characterized on MRI as age-related.

• VMA® quantified spinal motion, providing objective evidence of instability that helped guide a targeted treatment strategy.

𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗛𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗗 𝗡𝗘𝗫𝗧?

Following regenerative treatment, Leah reported significant improvements.

Within two days, she reported passing neuro-optometry tests she had struggled with for years.

Her neck-movement-related twitching had stopped.

Her recovery wasn't complete, but her life was changing.

𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗶𝗱𝗻'𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗵.

Her son suffered years of persistent pain from the accident, forcing him to give up dancing & soccer.

Following VMA® evaluation and individualized treatment, his mother reported that his persistent pain had subsided.

He was riding his bicycle, enjoying activities, and reclaiming his life.

As Leah described it:

How many still suffer despite inconclusive MRIs or X-rays?

How many have visited multiple specialists without answers?

How many are searching right now for a physician who can help?

MRI shows spinal anatomy.

Host Sam Frentzas talks with Dr. John Abrahams, Founder & President of New York Brain & Spine Surgery, Chief of Neurosurgery at NewYork-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital, and holder of 15+ medical patents, about a subject rarely taught in medical training: how to build a sustainable, profitable practice.

Key takeaways from the conversation:

→ The 3 questions every physician must answer before pursuing a medical device idea: reimbursability, regulatory pathway, and patentability
→ Why AI adoption is critical for physicians who want to lead, not follow, in healthcare's next chapter
→ The uncomfortable but necessary practice of "drowning the puppies"
→ Why most private equity deals in healthcare underperform, despite the headlines
→ His "two-week rule" for separating real opportunities from fleeting excitement
→ Why physicians need to "prepare for the divorce" before entering any partnership, because the marriage is always the easy part

A candid, experience-driven look at what it actually takes to go from clinician to entrepreneur.

Consider modern aviation.

Pilots rely on experience, training, and judgment.

But they don't estimate altitude, airspeed, or navigation solely by looking out the window.

They use instruments that quantify critical variables.

Medicine has followed a similar path.

Cardiology measures electrical activity.

Neurology evaluates nerve conduction.

Orthopedics uses quantitative measurements to assess alignment and movement.

Yet some aspects of spinal motion assessment still involve substantial manual interpretation.

This raises an important opportunity.

Can automated measurement improve consistency and reproducibility while preserving the physician's clinical judgment?

Automation alone doesn't guarantee accuracy.

Algorithms require validation, and measurements must be interpreted within the patient's clinical context.

But the principle is worth exploring.

𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻'𝘁 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀. 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿.

On The Med-Legal Greenroom, Dr. Aguila, President & CEO of Total Pain Solutions, breaks down why so many standard treatments, like radiofrequency ablation, only offer temporary relief. His surgical approach targets the same nerve pathways, but with results built to last.

The difference starts with diagnosis. He walks through the anatomical framework he uses to pinpoint exactly where a patient's pain is really coming from, often uncovering causes other doctors missed entirely.

This is the kind of precision that separates a guess from a real fix.

𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗡 𝗗𝗢𝗘𝗦 𝗠𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗜𝗡𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗠𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗬 𝗕𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗠𝗘𝗗𝗜𝗖𝗜𝗡𝗘?
Healthcare technology is advancing at an extraordinary pace.

Higher-resolution images.

More sophisticated algorithms.

Increasingly precise measurements.

But an important distinction often gets overlooked.

More information does not automatically mean more clinical value.

Consider three questions:

Does the technology measure something reliably?

Does that measurement provide information the physician didn't previously have?

And most importantly, does that information improve clinical decisions or patient outcomes?

These are three different standards of evidence.

A technology may demonstrate excellent measurement performance without yet establishing that it improves long-term outcomes.

As objective spinal motion assessment evolves, this distinction deserves greater attention.

On The Med-Legal Greenroom Podcast, Dr. Louis Saeger shared how a VMA® study changed the picture for one of his patients. It documented C1-C2 instability that conventional imaging hadn't shown. The instability was treated with a targeted regenerative injection.

Three days later, her vision was normal for the first time in years. Her neck and head pain were gone.

And because there was now objective evidence linking her symptoms to a structural injury, her open claim had a documented, treatable basis to move forward.

Attorneys and case managers:
➡️ How often do you see strong cases stall because the imaging "looks normal"?
➡️ What kind of objective evidence carries the most weight in your experience?

📩 Message "CASE STUDIES" to receive the patient case studies discussed.

Imagine measuring the performance of an automobile without knowing its speed, road conditions, or load.

The measurement might be precise.

But would it tell the whole story?

Spinal biomechanics presents a similar challenge.

Vertebral position and movement can be influenced by posture, loading, muscle activity, and patient effort.

Two measurements taken under different conditions may produce different results without either being technically incorrect.

That's why standardization matters.

Not simply in how measurements are calculated, but in how the information is acquired.

"Physicians feel like they're being left out of the decision-making process."

That line from Dr. Joe Sherman on this week's Med-Legal Greenroom stopped Sam in his tracks.

They talk a lot about physician burnout as a personal issue, but what if a huge piece of it is actually an organizational design problem? Dr. Sherman's take: the fix isn't another wellness webinar. It's bringing clinicians into the room where decisions actually get made.

Are physicians at your organization actually involved in the decisions that affect their day-to-day work? Or are they handed the plan after it's already made?

Drop your honest answer in the comments. I'm curious how different this looks across practices vs. large health systems. 👇

Consider an athlete undergoing a biomechanical assessment.

Measuring where the movement begins and ends provides useful information.

But what happens between those two points?

Acceleration.

Deceleration.

Changes in direction.

Variations in movement patterns.

The same distinction raises an interesting question in spinal assessment.

Traditional flexion-extension radiographs can provide valuable information about vertebral alignment at selected positions.

But those positions don't necessarily describe the complete motion occurring between them.

Continuous motion analysis introduces another variable: the movement trajectory itself.

Physician burnout isn't just a wellness issue, it's a business problem.

On this week's episode of The Med-Legal Greenroom, Sam Frentzas sat down with Dr. Joe Sherman, physician, executive coach, and 37-year veteran of medicine, to unpack what's really driving burnout across practices of every size.

They talked about:
🩺 Why the "business of medicine" and the "culture of medicine" so often collide
🩺 How burnout quietly shows up first, in charting delays, disengagement, and slipping patient care
🩺 Why physician turnover can cost 2–3x an annual salary, and what leadership can do before it gets there
🩺 The one shift solo practice owners AND large healthcare organizations both need to make

If you lead a practice, manage physicians, or invest in healthcare, this conversation will change how you think about retention.

👉 Dr. Sherman is also offering a complimentary consultation for leaders looking to address this in their own organization.
