Seires 67: Designed for Main Batter Disconnect Applications
We've updated the specifications. Read about what we did and how we did it on our blog.

MP Series 67 models 672 and 674, now validated to 5000 A @ 28 VDC, are designed for main battery disconnect, not just windlass or trolling motor circuits.

Day 2 at the ended with another celebration of partners and industry friends. Tonight we shared a meal with our distributors Waytek, Inc. and Egis Mobile Electric and our Florida rep the ProRep team. We enjoyed each other's company as we celebrated our successes this year.

Most of all a huge shout out and kudos to Charley's Steak House in Tampa. Seriously the most unforgettable hospitality, incredible service, and delicious food. Thank you for making our meal special. 👏🥂

AND for moving a wall to make room for our reservations for 6 that turned into 12. We are so grateful for the experience.

A great ending to the first day of !
A shared meal between partners and industry friends is one of the many great reasons to be here. We had dinner with our sister company iCONN SYSTEMS and Wesgarde Components and our local rep group ProRep Solutions. We were all missing our friends Jim G who retired earlier this year.
Cheers to you Jim! We missed you! 🍻 👏 ✌️ 🥂

Sometimes, the smallest components become part of the biggest moments in history.

This week, Sotheby's auctioned two remarkable artifacts from the Apollo 11 mission: the famous felt-tip pen Buzz Aldrin used to save the mission—and the broken Engine Arm circuit breaker switch that made the pen necessary. Together, they sold for $857,600.

What many people don't realize is that the broken switch wasn't just any switch. It was part of a Mechanical Products circuit breaker from our former aerospace product line.

As Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong prepared to leave the lunar surface, the plastic actuator on the Engine Arm circuit breaker was accidentally broken inside the Lunar Module. Without that circuit breaker being armed, the ascent engine could not be started—and there was no alternate way to restore power from Mission Control.

Buzz Aldrin's solution has become one of the greatest examples of engineering ingenuity under pressure. Using the plastic body of a felt-tip pen, he carefully depressed the breaker mechanism, armed the ascent engine, and enabled the crew to lift off from the Moon and begin their journey home.

For Mechanical Products, this story represents far more than a fascinating piece of history. It reminds us that engineering isn't measured by the size of the component—it's measured by the importance of its job.

While our aerospace division was later acquired, the engineering expertise and commitment to reliable circuit protection that helped support America's early space program continues to inspire the work we do today.

Some components protect equipment.

Others help change history.

250 years of American independence. Generations of American engineering.

As America celebrates its 250th anniversary, Mechanical Products is proud to reflect on a legacy built on innovation, reliability, and manufacturing excellence.

Our story began in 1940 in Jackson, Michigan, where we started as a manufacturer of aircraft electrical components during a defining era of American aviation. From those early years, our mission has remained the same: engineer products that perform when reliability matters most.
That commitment carried us from the early days of aviation to contributing to America's journey to the Moon, and today to protecting electrical systems in commercial vehicles, marine applications, heavy equipment, defense platforms, renewable energy systems, and next-generation battery-powered technologies.

While technology has evolved, our commitment has never changed.
We continue to design, engineer, and manufacture thermal circuit protection solutions in the USA, building on generations of American engineering while helping shape the future of electrification.
As we celebrate America's 250th birthday, we're honored to carry that tradition forward—supporting the engineers, manufacturers, and innovators building what's next.

Celebrating 250 years of American independence. Built on generations of American engineering.

Raising the Bar on High Amp Circuit Protection - MP Series 87 rated to 56VDC

Mechanical Products has enhanced the Series 87 switchable circuit breaker with an updated maximum voltage rating — 56VDC through 200A, up from 48VDC. The Series 87 is now the only circuit breaker of this type available at 56VDC from any manufacturer.

This upgrade addresses the growing demand for overcurrent protection in modern lithium battery systems, 48V architectures, and energy storage applications where operating voltage exceeds traditional 48V limits.

Key specifications:
- 56VDC max, 25A–200A (48VDC for 225A and 250A)
- Full 25–250A range, 18 standard ratings
- IP67 weatherproof, ignition protected (SAE J1171)
- Compliant with SAE J553, ABYC E-11, UL1077
- Made in the USA

Updated datasheets and 3D CAD models are available on our website.
