We’re excited to share that Moffatt & Nichol has been selected by the North County Transit District (NCDT) for the As-Needed Engineering and Environmental Services for Sprinter Corridor Infrastructure Improvements initiative in Southern California.

The program includes four planned double-track segments designed to support future service enhancements, including reducing train headways from 30 minutes to 15 minutes, improving reliability and creating a more convenient transit experience for riders. The project will help increase capacity and operational flexibility along the corridor while supporting future transit growth in North County.

As prime consultant, we’re proud to partner with NCTD on this important effort and look forward to helping deliver improvements that will benefit communities throughout San Diego’s North County for years to come.

The Town of Oak Island’s Beach Restoration project has been named a 2026 Best Restored Beach by the ASBPA American Shore and Beach Preservation Association.

The project restored approximately 5.4 miles of shoreline through the placement of more than 1 million cubic yards of sand, strengthening storm protection, supporting critical sea turtle habitat, and helping safeguard the community’s long-term resilience.

Moffatt & Nichol served as the town’s engineer for the project, providing planning, design, permitting, bidding, and construction support. The award highlights the value of long-term shoreline monitoring, strong partnerships, and strategic investment in coastal resilience.

Congratulations to the Town of Oak Island and all project partners on this national recognition.

On World Environment Day, it's worth recognizing the role healthy coastal ecosystems play in supporting biodiversity, improving water quality, and strengthening resilience in coastal communities.

Florida’s seagrass restoration efforts are advancing through new statewide planning and data tools designed to improve visibility, coordination, and implementation of restoration activities.

Moffatt & Nichol is supporting the development of a Florida Resilient 10-year Seagrass Restoration Plan and contributing to the development of a statewide Seagrass Restoration Tracking Map through the Seagrass Restoration Technology Development Initiative led by Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium.

The interactive map brings together more than 70 restoration projects and multiple seagrass nurseries into a single platform, showing where restoration is underway, what stage projects are in, and how efforts are being implemented across Florida.

Designed as a living inventory, the tool also allows practitioners to contribute data, strengthening the overall understanding of seagrass restoration activity and supporting more informed planning over time.
