Our team was hired to demo an Exxon station that had a convenience store and car wash to leave it a clean, empty lot. We removed the massive 20,000 gallon underground tanks, demo’d the canopy, and coordinated utility shutdowns to stay on schedule with th rest of the demo.

We were recently contacted by a large multi-state gas station ownership group to provide pricing for a project in Linden, New Jersey. The site—a former Exxon

Uncovering Hidden Fuel Tanks During Site Redevelopment: When redeveloping older properties, you never know what you might find beneath the surface. Recently, during an environmental study on a site that was being redeveloped, we uncovered something unexpected: four abandoned underground fuel tanks. Two of the tanks once held gasoline, while the other two contained diesel. Unfortunately, they had not been properly decommissioned or registered, and they were left in place many years ago.

Under Covering Hidden Risks: Underground Tank Removal.

At our environmental services company, we recently partnered with an environmental engineering firm to tackle a challenging redevelopment project at a former gas station and auto repair shop in Margate. The site, slated for redevelopment, presented several typical environmental issues for a former gas station that needed to be addressed before progress could begin. Here’s how we navigated the complexities of this project and why proper due diligence is critical for property redevelopment. Click the link below to read more.

Since 1999, our team has been helping property owners and businesses safely remove underground storage tanks and address environmental challenges. The Margate

This homeowner used a contractor that charges a flat rate to remove underground oil tanks. The tank which had leaked was removed, the soil clean up was done, the case was closed, job over.

Until, they started digging footings in that same area for a deck and ran into a large area of contaminated soil that had been left behind.

An environmental engineer was called in to assess the situation, who then called us in to clean up the remaining dirty soil. There were several truckloads, a few hundred tons.

It is critical when choosing a contractor whether it’s an oil tank removal or any other type of work to check references and not to hire only because of price. Great communication prior to starting the project, having a clear easy to understand but detailed scope of work in writing are all essential.

We’ve been helping people remove their underground storage tanks since 1999 and we can help you too.

What’s the most important thing you should know if you own a home or business with an underground oil tank?

It costs a lot less to remove it before it starts leaking.

This homeowner started off with a local tank removal company to remove his underground tank (not us). They dug a hole in his yard with their machine and were unable to find his tank so a friend recommended us before he wasted more money.

We were able to locate the tank under his crawlspace, which made digging very difficult. Using a machine was not possible and even standing up straight in the low space was not feasible.

But we hand dug out the tank, pumped out the few hundred gallons of oil that were left inside the tank with a vac truck and pulled the tank up and out of the hole for disposal.

Fortunately, the tank was in great shape and had not leaked. Removing contaminated soil in an area like this would’ve been extremely difficult and very expensive.

We’ve been helping homeowners and business owners alike removing their tanks and minimizing costs as much as possible when a leak has occurred.

Give us a call, we always answer the phone.

This homeowner had switched to natural gas several years back but had not removed their underground oil tank at that time.

They reached out to us about the costs and the process involved to remove it now and after getting the information, decided to move forward.

When we dug up the tank there were still a few inches of oil left which we cleaned out and put into 55 gallon drums for disposal.

After the tank was cleaned out there was clear evidence of holes rusted through the bottom and when the tank was removed from the excavation the dirt was stained with oil.

It turned out to not be alot of contamination, there was only a couple of truckloads of soil that needed to be removed but it still added on a considerable amount of expense compared to the cost if tank hadn’t had leaked.

If you have a tank in the ground call, call us. It cost so much less if we can get it out before it leaks. We always answer our phones

Another tank that was previously abandoned in place years ago that now needs to be removed because the home is being sold.

All was good, the tank hadn’t leaked before it was abandoned in place, the contractor that done the work had cleaned out the inside properly and it passed inspection no problem.

Unfortunately that’s not always how this plays out which is why these tanks are being removed now.

Sometimes, they were abandoned in place even though they were already leaking or the contractor didn’t bother cleaning out the inside of the tank before filling it with sand which could create a problem later.

Now almost every buyer for a home or business has a tank sweep inspection or a GPR (ground penetrating radar) to determine there are no tanks on the property even when the owners aren’t aware of any.

We’ve been helping people for over 25 years remove their underground storage tanks and we can help you too. Call us, we always answer our phone.

This was a project from earlier this spring.

This house was being sold and it had an underground oil tank that had been previously abandoned in place years ago and filled with sand. Now it needed to come out for the sale of the home. When we took it out, it was in good shape and hadn’t leaked.

Even though it had been previously abandoned in place, many tanks that were abandoned in place years ago had already leaked and left in the ground, which is why they are being required to be removed now when a property is sold. But this one hadn’t, and it had been cleaned out properly and was in good shape.

If you have a home or commercial property that you are selling with an underground storage tank, we can help you. We’ve been helping people for over 25 years and we can help you too.
