Robbie Owens stopped by FST this week with a basket from Big Daddy's Cookies, and before anybody got a bite in, we were already working through the menu.
Smooth Criminal: double peanut butter
Return of the Mac: white chocolate macadamia
Sweet Caroline: salted caramel
Call Me Big Poppa: triple chocolate chip
He's got a Slim Shady, a Pour Some Sugar On Me, and a Go Shawty still on deck.
The names pull you in. What kept me reading was the ingredient list: unbleached flour, pure cane sugar, European butter, organic vanilla. He says flat out on his site that he could make them cheaper... he just won't. His words for it: "Big Cookies. Real Ingredients. Zero Apologies."
We spend our days around steel fabrication, so that decision is familiar. You can always spec something down and nobody notices for a while. Or you build it right and let it speak for itself.
He's running this thing like a record label instead of a bakery... small batches, limited drops, pickup at Big Daddy's Stereo, and when it's gone, it's gone.
