📚✏️ Back to School!

As August begins, everyone at Deem would like to wish students, teachers, and families a wonderful school year!

We're proud to support education in the communities we serve, and one of the ways we do that is by helping build the schools where future generations learn and grow. Last year, we had the privilege of erecting the structural steel for Salado High School in Texas—creating a place where students can learn, achieve, and prepare for the future.

Please join us in congratulating our Vice President, Drew Heron, on receiving the SEAA 2026 Eddie Award🏆 👏

Formerly known as the Person of the Year Award, the recognition was renamed to honor SEAA founding member Edward “Eddie” Williams. The award is presented annually to an individual who exemplifies dedicated service and a deep commitment to SEAA’s mission and values.

Drew was recognized for his " willingness to contribute wherever needed, and represent the association with professionalism, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor". His actions and continuous dedication highlight his genuine want to make the steel construction industry better.

We are thrilled to have him leading our Deem team. Congrats Drew on this well deserved honor!

Please join us in congratulating two very special people on their well-earned retirement from Deem Structural Services: James Wingate and Jeffrey Bolyer.

James began his career with our sister company, Basden Steel, when it was first founded nearly 40 years ago! He later transitioned to Deem Structural Services as a superintendent, and we are honored he chose to finish his career with us. Over the years, James played an integral role in many of our projects, with clients often specifically requesting him to be on their job. He was also an important part of the USAF Cadet Chapel Restoration—an incredibly unique, first-of-its-kind project for our company. We will miss his great humor and incredible work ethic, but we are excited for this next chapter as he spends more time with his wonderful wife and kids.

Jeff was David Deem’s first employee and has been with us for 15 outstanding years. As a superintendent, he led many important and challenging projects, including the Buddy Holly Museum in Lubbock, Choctaw Casino in Oklahoma, and our recent IAH project. Jeff made a lasting impact on our company, and while we are sad to see him go, we are excited for what’s ahead. We hope his retirement is filled with plenty of hunting, fishing, and time with his grandkids.

Throughout their careers, both James and Jeff contributed to award-winning projects, some of which you’ll see highlighted here. One of the most special parts of this industry is the legacy it leaves behind. The buildings they helped bring to life stand as lasting monuments to their hard work, projects they can look back on and proudly say, “I had a part in that.”

Thank you, James and Jeff, for your years of dedication and the legacy you leave behind. We wish you both the absolute best in retirement!
