Why is Epoxy grout so expensive? In a nut shell, it costs more to manufacture and installation is more difficult. Epoxy grout has two parts, the base, and the activator. When combined, a chemical reaction begins which means you have limited time to finish grouting before it sets and becomes too hard to work with. This is why we recommend hiring a professional installer when working with epoxy grout. The benefit of epoxy is it doesn't need a sealer, it’s heat and chemical resistant which can save time and money in the long run. If the tile in your commercial kitchen is popping up, your grout could be the culprit. If grout is low or missing, water and grease can travel under tile and compromise thin-set (adhesive that attaches tile to the sub-floor) causing tile to pop up. You may recognize a section of tile rising up or water coming up through the grout lines when you step on it. If left unattended, it can spread causing a larger repair. Many restaurants would like to use epoxy grout in their kitchens but feel it’s too expensive. Consider a combination. One of our long term clients, Panda Express uses epoxy in their comp sink areas and cooking line and commercial sanded grout in all other areas.

What does a grout replacement really mean? For some it means scratching the surface of the existing grout and smearing over old grout or just cleaning and smearing. For us it means extracting existing grout down to the subfloor with our dust free process and cleaning, degreasing, rinsing and shop vacuuming the grout lines to ensure the new grout adheres properly. In addition, we cover upon completion to protect it during the initial cure time. We always take before, during and after pictures so clients can feel confident the work was completed as agreed. Weather it's epoxy or commercial grade sanded grout , doing everything possible so your new grout lasts as long as possible is our goal.
