Permitting can feel slow and frustrating, but it plays an important role in building safety and compliance.

Plans are submitted to the local authority for review. Departments review independently for life safety, code compliance, accessibility, and trade requirements. Comments are issued, revisions are made, and plans are resubmitted. Once comments are addressed, approval is granted and the permit is issued.

The takeaway: Permitting isn’t a roadblock, it’s a checkpoint. Planning ahead and responding quickly helps keep projects moving.

Florida’s rainy season is ramping back up and what starts as a “small washout” can quickly become a major safety issue.

We were recently called to a Senior Living community after staff noticed a minor washout forming near a storm drain in the parking lot. After additional rain moved through, the situation rapidly worsened and exposed a collapsed underground pipe beneath the asphalt.

Now our team is mobilizing emergency repairs to make the area safe again:
✔️ Camera inspection of the storm line
✔️ Excavation and asphalt removal
✔️ Collapsed pipe repair/replacement
✔️ Proper compaction and restoration
✔️ Re-establishing safe access for residents and staff

In Florida, heavy rain can expose hidden infrastructure failures fast. especially in aging drainage systems. Catching these issues early is critical before they become larger hazards or cause more extensive damage.

At Coastal Reconstruction Group, we understand the urgency these situations bring, especially in occupied senior living environments where safety and accessibility are top priorities.
